Your Permilia/Permillie/Millie Evans - my gg grandmother was Permilia May(s)EVANS. Until I found where she and my gg grandfather, Rev. James E. EVANS married in Lincoln County, GA in 1831, I had never seen the name. Since then my searches have found several versions of spelling the name. 2. James and Permilia's son William, my g grandfather was living with his parents in Savannah (Chatham County) GA in 1870. Before 1873 he married Sadie Iv(e)y and they had a son named James Jefferson EVANS b Poughkeepsie, NY. In 1875 they had a daughter Lucy. Are you saying Henry's biological parents were born in NY or Solomon and Permilia? Where was your EVANS located in the 1920 and 1930 census? He married Hannah Pierce of St. Clair county, IL about 1845 and they had at least one daughter - Ophelia J. Evans in 1848 - who married Jasper Messenger about 1875 out in Gillet Grove IL. Such a strange name, yet nothing pops up. I did see records for a public land sale to a Scott Evans out in Denver. The Evans were early settlers to Denver and I remember seeing info on them back in 1980 at the museum there. Stuck in my mind because we were living on Evans Ave! Author: betty0909 Surnames: Evans, Willey Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.evans/9791.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: My ggg grandparents were Ebenezer Evans and Mary Willey. Ebenezer was born on 28 Mar 1802 in Massachusetts. Mary Willey was born in Ohio in 1811. I believe they were married in Ohio, and then traveled to Vigo County, Indiana. They both died in Vigo County in 1847 (Ebenezer) and 1848 (Mary), and are buried in the New Harmony Cemetery near Prairieton, Vigo County, Indiana. They left five children: William, b. 1827 in Ohio; Henry, b. 1835 in Cincinnati; Charles, b. ca. 1840 in Indiana; Charlotte, b. 1842 in Vigo County; and Melissa Jane, b. 1848, in Vigo County. I believe the family was living in Morgan Twp., Butler County, Ohio, in 1830, then they appear in the 1840 Honey Creek Twp.,Vigo County, Indiana census. After Ebenezer and Mary died, William, Henry, and Charlotte went to Christian County, Illinois, where William and Henry appear with the Stephen Willey family in 1850, and Henry appears with the Israel Willey family in 1860. I believe Israel Willey was a brother or cousin to their mother, Mary, but have not established the relationship yet. Israel also was living in Vigo County at the same time as Ebenezer and Mary. Charlotte lived with a Deacon Samuel Peabody family of the Old Stonington Baptist Church in 1850. By 1860, my William was married and went to California where he appears in the Contra Costa census in 1860 and died by 1870. Where was your William born in Illinois? I see that he is living in Lost Creek Twp. in the 1900 census. Are you aware of any other relatives there or why he would travel from Illinois to Vigo County to live? I believe that my Evans had to have relatives around Terre Haute because Charlotte went back there to live around 1870 instead of staying with her brothers and sister in Illinois. Unfortunately, there are so many Evans in Vigo County by 1900. If you ever find a connection between our families, please keep me in mind. Evans. William R. Evans born Feb.1862 in Illinois was a farm laborer in 1900 Vigo County Indiana and by 1910 he was a coal miner. He was married to Mary aka "Molly" E. (Woodruff) around 1884. They had four children and lost one. The living children were a son Jesse B. 1884, who was a coal miner later in life. A daughter Grace Belle b. in 1887 and I have mixed information about another son. There is a Ray who was 14 in 1910, and another listing of a Welcome R. who was 4 at the 1910 census. I don't know if Welcome R. is actually Ray and the dates were just mixed up. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Living in Madison County, AL for 1830 with one child under age 5. Have no known information on Nancy Evans other than listed on children's death certificates and marriage record to GWVC in 1828. Father thought to be born AL and mother GA according to census listing parents place of birth. It doesn't appear that Marshall or Madison Co., AL existed before the 1810 census but was a part of GA and MS? Nancy's children were, John Henry VC, William M. All children migrated to Ellis County, Tx starting before 1870 after the death of GWVC in 1862.
