My John Wesley Evans who married Mary Elizabeth Replogle, daughter of Frederick Marion Replogle. I believe that John Wesley Evans is the son of John Evans born bet. 1760-1770. On the 1840 Census in Madison County, Tennessee there is a John Evans just 2 names above or 2 names below Frederick Replogle. If you look at the age of this John Evans, he is too old to be John Wesley Evans born 1807. But this John Evans has 2 sons born between 1800-1810, and a daughter born between 1810-1815. One of the sons could be John Wesley Evans. Anyway, the Gaulding Family Bible Record that my Daddy gave me shows John Wesley Evans to be born 15 Apr 1807, died 07 Jul 1864 in Senatobia, DeSoto or Tate County, Mississippi. On 26 Mar 1839 (probably in Madison County, Tennessee), John married Mary Elizabeth Replogle born 15 Feb 1817 in Rutherford County, Tennessee, died 09 Apr 1873 in Senatobia, DeSoto County, Mississippi. Someone just told me that John Wesley Evans was buried! in Old Caroline Cemetery near Senatobia, Mississippi. I looked online but there are no transcriptions that I have found for that cemetery. My Daddy gave me a photo, I believe of John Wesley Evans grave. I'll have to upload it. I'll have to scan it first. If you think this is your John Wesley Evans, let me know. I hope we find a connection. Jenny :) Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Could you please tell me what the date and location of John Wesley Evans was, if it tells? This would really keep you from doing a lot of work and maybe end up not being the "right" Evans family. Dear Jenny, Can you tell me when this John Wesley Evans lived, and where he lived? I have a John Wesley Evans, b. 1854 TX & d. 1941 MO. He was married to a Martha Jane Denison. This is certainly not the same person, but I wondered if they might connect some way. The above listed Evans family connects to my Johnson line. Author: alicia45656 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.evans/9796.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Henry's parents were born in New York. Solomon's parents were born in Wales, as was he, and they immigrated to the states and settled in Ohio. Permillia/Permillie/Millie's father was born in Vermont and her mother in Canada. She was born in Canada as well, according to the censuses. In the 1910 and 1920 census, it stated that Henry was an "adopted son". In 1910 and 1920, they were living in Lawrence, Saint Lawrence Co., NY. Permillie and Henry were still living there in 1930, but Solomon wasn't listed, he must've died by that time. Which makes sense, he was born about 1844-1847. It also stated a pension index that NY Solomon had served with the Ohio 91st Infantry. So had my Solomon. In the 1930 census, it stated that Henry was not a veteran of the military. He worked doing odd jobs. In the 1920 census, it said that he was a hunter/trapper. I did find three results for Henry Evans, born around 1893: Henry Evans B. November 18, 1891 - NY D. October 1967 - Scranton, PA SSN: 090-03-3843 Henry Evans B. March 20, 1892 - NY D. May 1965 - Florida SSN: 095-09-3346 Henry Evans B. October 27, 1893 - NY D. July 1980 - Bronx, NY SSN: 117-03-5041 I don't know if any of these are even him.
