    1. [EVANS] Thomas EVANS and Henrietta CLAYTON mid-1800s
    2. Thomas EVANS and Henrietta CLAYTON were married in Paulding Co., GA 11 Jul 1838 then moved to Itawamba Co., MS. Henrietta, daughter of Middleton CLAYTON and Melinda BEAUCHAMP, died sometime before 1873 (when Thomas married Mary F. WILLIAMS). I am trying to locate some sort of documentation of this - a death record, Bible record, obituary... anything that shows when she died - and hoping it mentions her mother who was still living at the time. It is suspected that she may be buried in the Gilmore-Evans cemetery, where Thomas' brother William was buried, but it must be an unmarked grave. If anyone is researching this family and has the information, I would be so tickled. Trying to complete an application for the DAR and I'm missing proof of the link between her and her mother. Author: BarbaraMcCallum20 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.evans/4332.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Sorry for being so tardy in my reply. Wm and Anna are in the 1850 Jackson TN census. Children are Elizabeth, Tabitha "Jane", Nancy, Susanah, Paralee and Julia. I do not know much about them, Tabitha Jane was the second wife of my ancestor. I have learned a few more facts about the family though. I still have not found the children of Jane and Geo. W. Harper, other than in the 1860 census of Iron County MO, and the 1880 census in Jackson County, Illinois, when she is married to David Ginger. I have the pension records that Jane Evans filed for GW's civil war service. GW Harper and Jane Evans had three children, Fanny b 1868, Tennessee b 1862 and James Alexander b 1864. She had another child Anna, b 1859 in IL by an unknown father. She was married to David Ginger in the 1880 census. I have David Ginger in IL later with no reference to this family. He and his family were in MO in earlier census records. Back to the Evans family I suspect that there were sons, but I have not connected them to William and Anna. There was a David Evans in GW Harper's unit in the Civil War. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. My John Wesley Evans who married Mary Elizabeth Replogle, daughter of Frederick Marion Replogle. I believe that John Wesley Evans is the son of John Evans born bet. 1760-1770. On the 1840 Census in Madison County, Tennessee there is a John Evans just 2 names above or 2 names below Frederick Replogle. If you look at the age of this John Evans, he is too old to be John Wesley Evans born 1807. But this John Evans has 2 sons born between 1800-1810, and a daughter born between 1810-1815. One of the sons could be John Wesley Evans. Anyway, the Gaulding Family Bible Record that my Daddy gave me shows John Wesley Evans to be born 15 Apr 1807, died 07 Jul 1864 in Senatobia, DeSoto or Tate County, Mississippi. On 26 Mar 1839 (probably in Madison County, Tennessee), John married Mary Elizabeth Replogle born 15 Feb 1817 in Rutherford County, Tennessee, died 09 Apr 1873 in Senatobia, DeSoto County, Mississippi. Someone just told me that John Wesley Evans was buried! | in Old Caroline Cemetery near Senatobia, Mississippi. I looked online but there are no transcriptions that I have found for that cemetery. My Daddy gave me a photo, I believe of John Wesley Evans grave. I'll have to upload it. I'll have to scan it first. If you think this is your John Wesley Evans, let me know. I hope we find a connection. | | Jenny :) | | Important Note: | The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
