My Question is--have you put to rest, once and for all, the notion that the David Evans (who married Ann Arden) was the original emigrant, having been born in Wales? If so, how did you come to the conclusion that he was born in Prince George County, MD? Walt Boswell Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. Thank you for the correction! My URL is older.....I should have checked it before I sent it out! Sorry! I descend from Ezer Evans and Susannah Lindsey who were married in Christian County, Kentucky in 1813. You are RIGHT!! Tracking this line IS a VERY difficult challenge. I've decided that I'm not very good at it becasue I've been trying to extend my Evans line for forty years and have only taken it back four generations from myself. At times I think I should give up, but somehow, I just have to know! I have LOTS of circumstantial evidence, but no solid primary to clinch it. Well, good luck, out there! If you ever "run into" an Ezer Evans, please think of me! By the way, from where in Kentucky were your people? And, thanks again. Joanne Evans Hodges

    3. Try: http://www.kansasheritage.org/research/quantrill.txt I found your URL not working. I noticed that the Shepherds and the Evans are listed. I know that in my family Evans and Shepherds have married in Virginia (west Virginia) My dad(deceased) had visited relatives in Kentucky but I never found out who or where they where/are. It has been very difficult to do genealogy on this side of the family I think possibly because of the war. Only records I have been able to find have been union records. BTW I do Living histories time era 1800s William T. Shepherd b.1870 Married about 1891 to Almeda J. Evens b. Apr 1871 my Great-Grandparents I am still looking for more in the line. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Joanne Hodges" To: Sent: Thursday, September 27, 2007 12:01 PM Subject: [EVANS] Evans and Jesse James

    3. You can find a list of Members of Quantrill's Guerrillas in the Civil War at http://history.cc.ukans.edu/heritage/research/quantrill.txt I see two names of Evans men on it. One is James Evans, the other is Tom Evans. If the James Evans is the one I suspect he is, he was gunned down in his home in 1862 by a gang of Union Soldiers in Missouri. The List indicates that the Tom Evans surrendered at Smily, Ky. Was kept in prison at Lexington, Ky. Released after the end of the war. Hope this helps your research. Good Luck!
