They had 2 sons, William and Edward. Oral Family history indicates that both James and Mary Jane died before 1900 and the 2 boys were raised by different family members. Rowland was shot down in 178-something and William H. was born in 1813. It's been assumed that Rowland had a son Rowland, and that he died young. My theory is that he did not die early and that Rowland Jr. is William's father. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. She married my great grandfather Richard Allen Evans and they lived in Linden, Perry Co. TN., before they moved to Greene Co., Arkansas. I visited the driveway of their home in Linden, that goes off of Marsh Creek Road in October of 2006. The home is not there now. The lady who showed my cousins Susie Dabbs and Jackie Skelton of Hohenwald, Lewis Co. TNH., my wife Lee Ann and I the driveway remembered as a young girl playing in the house What I am searching for is proof of any kind that Francis was of Indian ancestory. She claimed she was 1/4 Cherokee. She spoke broken English and would put the noun at the front of the sentence, instead of at the end. I have photo's her and her families and of her father Isaac Little and many have the same Cherokee Indian features. Dark Complexion, Tall and Slim, High Cheekbones, Isaac had blue eyes (Indians have brown eyes) Jackie Skelton has sent me several of his families photo's and many have these Indian features. I would appreciate it very much if you are a descendent of Francis and have photo's or any information that would help me in my research. Here are the only notes I have and my query was to gain information and open debate on this line since I have not seen anything 'new' in a long time. Can you fill in the blanks for me on David's family? My own line ends with Anna Evans, daughter of Lt. William B. Evans (do you suppose the B. is for 'Ball'?) just a guess since I don't think that he signed using his middle name anywhere I can find... Diane David Evans, was in Maryland in the late 1600's, he had three children born there (Collection St. Barnabus Church Collection Dates 1686-1777) Description St. Barnabus Church, Queen Anne Parish, Protestant Episcopal, Prince George's County, Leeland: vestry minutes and account 1705-1773; parish register 1686-1777. See microfilm for transcripts prepared by the Maryland Historical Society. Film Number M 607, M 1010 Medium Original, microfilm Restrictions No restrictions Location 00/08/06/09 Southern Lineages Record of Thirteen Families by A. Evans Wynn The first definite knowledge of David Evans of the line we trace, is found in Prince George County, Maryland, where the Queen Anne Parish Register records the following: "Eleanor Evans, daughter of David Evans and Anne, his wife, was born October 5, 1714, John Evans, son of David Evans and Anne, his wife, was born August 21, 1717. Arden Evans, son of David Evans and Anne, his ,wife was born March 15, 1721/2." The unusual fore-name "Arden" has been the means of distinguishing this line from others, in a list innumerable "Early Settlers" of the surname Evans, in Maryland and Virginia. The tradition, preserved in the family, that the first ancestor in this country married an Arden, would fix that surname on Anne, wife of David Evans, Examination of the records of an early family of Ardens, in Maryland, 1690 (2), revealed nothing of her origin. Unless she was the daughter of one James Arden of the "Potomac Freshes," mentioned obscurely in an Early Virginia Patent, or, unless settlers of Lower Norfolk County, among whom were Ardens, moved with Richard Bennett to Maryland, Anne Arden, of David Evans, must have been born in the "Mother Country." (2) John Arden, Virginia, "Bristol and America." (Vol. 2,. p. 136). Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
