HI Would anyone have anything on any Evans women born in/around Dickson, Tn. that married into a Bugg family from western Kentucky? The Bugg family came from Mecklenburg Co. Virginia in the early 1800's. Thanks so much. ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com

In regards to the 1850 census information, Mary was the mother of James and Philip, thus I believe she was 51 years of age rather than 37 or 31. The three of them are also found in the 1860 and 1870 censuses in Adair County, Kentucky. Many thanks again, Frank Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Because this is not my direct line I do not have a great deal of information and what I do have is a little sketchy. But from what I have been able to gather this Thomas Evans was born sometime before 1765 in Wales. He apparently immigrated to Virginia where his son Benjamin was born. The only census that I was able to find Thomas in was in the 1810 census in Adair County, Kentucky where Benjamin was married. The only other bit of information I have, although not proven, is that Thomas's wife's given name might have been Lavinia. Based on your subsequent postings it appears that we are talking about two different Thomases, but I thought I would pass on to you what I have in case it would be of any interest to you. Thank you for your response. There were two Andrew Evans' that were born about the same time, lived in the same general area during their lifetime, and who served in the Rev War. Some confuse the two. Andrew Evans (#1) born 28 Sep 1759 Mecklenburg CO, NC, died 05 Dec 1840 Harrison Twp., Owen CO, Indiana. He married Elizabeth Fain the d/o Nicholas Fain and Elizabeth Taylor. This Andrew Evans (#1) is not to be confused with the Andrew Evans (#2) born Apr 1763, VA, and died Abt. 09 Apr 1839 in Rhea CO, TN. This 'other' Andrew (#2) is of my Evans clan, and he marr to Jane'Jean' Creswell the d/o WilliamHenry Creswell. Andrew Evans (#2) was the s/o 'my' Samuel Evans & Ann Colville. I am interested in both Andrews. I believe that they could be cousins of sorts. We have several DNA participants (FamilyTreeDNA - Evans DNA Project)from my Evans clan, but not from the Andrew (#1) & Elizabeth (Fain) Evans group. There are quite a few of us interested in finding a living male descendant of this line. I did find the Gordan Aronhime Papers listed in the LVA catalogue, but could not find any information, or reference to either Andrew Evans in them. I did see the Colville reference in these papers, but no further information online. Would you please send me a link to your online database? You asked how the Evans's in Amelia County are related to the Evans's in Dinwiddie County. One of Sarah Batte's brother-in-laws was the founder of Petersburg which is the county seat of Dinwiddie County. Robert Evans, son of Sarah and John Evans, died in Petersburg at the home of his son Batte Evans. Batte Evans and Thomas Evans gave despostions on their grandfather's court case from Edgefield County, South Carolina where they were living. The 1756 John Evans you mentioned is probably the son of John and Sarah Evans. Robert Evans would be his brother. In the court desposition, Thomas Evans gave his desposition in 1814 and said that his grandfather "Trading John Evans" died about 100 years ago. This means that John Evans Jr. died around 1714. One entry mentioned a lost will from around that date. John Evans is a very common name in this family. You can contact me at BHEEvans@worldnet.att.net. Hi, My question is addressed to the list administrator of this list or whoever is in charge of our Evans DNA testing. I asked some of my Evans relatives if they would consider getting DNA testing for our Evans line. I got back this message from a cousin whose little daughter had had cancer: "Two of our sons have had HLA testing ( I think it was called). Ist is a set of 6 different markers, 3 from your Mom and 3 from your Dad. This was done when our daughter was ill and we were looking for donors. Do you know if this is the same test? Let me know" So the question is.... could we supply the results of this testing and have it count? I'm hoping we can, because I doubt these folks will be retested. Please let me know what to do next if this is possible. Thanks, Renee > >

John Evans Jr of Prince George Co., VA receives land on both sides of Nottoway River. (Does this pertain to a one John EVANS or pertaining to two John EVANS', a Sr & JR? Is this John EVANS jr the John md to Sarah Batte?) Are you familiar with any of these EVANS' as outlined above? And how are they connected to one another? In regards to Stephen & Robert EVANS of 1745 Prince George along with father John EVANS, is this John the s/o John & sarah Batte EVANS? i would be interested in the "real estate" info you mentioned. Please do send me a copy. My addy is jwgarrett@webtv.net plain or text or jpeg format if possible. Would ike very much to find the parents of my Thomas Evans . 1747 Amelia Co., VA. At about his time in Amelia Co were the following: John & Robert EVANS below Deep Creek in 1736. A George Evans on upper side of Flatt Cr in 1736 A Robert Evans on both sides of Buffalo Bed Cr in the fork of Nottaway in 1741. Then there is the Thomas EVANS of Dinwiddle who sells land on the north side of Nottoway River in Amelia in 1756. This land was patened by John Evans, adjoining lines of Robert EVANS. I question how these Amelia Co EVANS are connected along with Thomas of Dinwiddle? Jim Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: bheevans Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.evans/9854.1.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Jim - Some of the real estate information could easily be my family. John Evans Jr. and Sarah Batte were the parents of several children including John, Robert, and William (My Line). William had land on the Nottoway River in Amelia County. There are a lot of non-Evans relatives with the first name of Thomas. William Evans' next door neighbor in Amelia County was Thomas Ellis. Thomas Ellis' wife was Martha Evans, sister of William Evans. Living next to John and Sarah Batte Evans in Prince George County was Thomas Batte Jr. He was the brother of Sarah Batte. One of Sarah Batte's brother-in-laws was credited with being the founder of Petersburg in Dinwiddie County, Virginia. Robert Evans died in Petersburg at his son's house. His son was Batte Evans. An example of the real estate is that Stephen and Robert Evans had land on Stony Creek next the their father John Evans. It is bounded by the Water Course of Flatt Brook. This is a Prince George real estate entry dated 1745. I sho! uld point out that county boundaries changed over the years. Nottoway River could easily been in Prince George, Amelia, and Nottoway Counties depending on the time of your research. There is a book titled "The Complete Ancestry of Tennessee Williams" by John Brayton. John Brayton was a descendant of William Evans. He has a chapter on the Evans family which mentions a lot of the real estate. I typed a copy of the chapter and would be glad to e-mail it to you. It is about twenty pages. Winifred Evans married Robert Hicks Jr. Winifred was the sister of John Evans Jr. Thomas Lanier aka "Tennessee" Williams is a direct descendant of Robert and Winifred Evans Hicks. One strange thing I found in my index is that a Jane Howerton married a Vincient Holt which is my mothers line. However, based on the age of a Holt brother Jane and Vincient would have been married in the early 1800's. Brian Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
