    3. I am looking for information on the parents/siblings of Monroe Evans born Aug 1834 in Lehigh Co, PA. He died June 1912. He was married to Caroline Resh of Lehigh Co, PA. I have the census information for 1850 and Monroe is not shown with his family. It has been suggested that he could be of American Indian descent. I am afraid I don't know much more than this about him. Thanks for any help you can provide.

On the family Bible Record, it shows John Wesley Evans and Mary Elizabeth Replogle's marriage date as 26 Mar 1839. This would agree more with the birth dates of their children too. John Wesley, Jr. born Jan 1840 in either Tennessee or Mississippi, died 1903 in DeSoto County, Mississippi. Martha Elizabeth born May 1841 in Mississippi, died in Arkansas probably. America A. born 1843 in Mississippi. Mary Catherine born 18 Jan 1847 in Mississippi, died 27 Aug 1863 in DeSoto or Tate County, Mississippi. Nancy Jane born 27 Mar 1849 in Senatobia, DeSoto or Tate County, Mississippi, died 17 Nov 1912 in Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee. The Bible Record is from Nancy Jane Evans and John Tyler Gaulding's Bible. It shows her parents birth, death and marriage dates. It also has Mary Catherine's information in it. I found my father's family name ELI MARGHERITI in the 1930 census by doing a partial search of the name with an * if I remember. it comes up under, MARGHINTI, no where near the correct spelling. Replogle on page 81 of the Madison Co TN 1840 census and a John Evans on page 92 of same census but nowhere do I find a Frederick M. Replogle on the same page with a John Evans. Reference for Frederick M. Replogle: 1840; Madison, Tennessee; Roll: 529; Page: 81 url: http://content.ancestry.com/iexec/?htx=View&r=an&dbid=8057&iid=TNM704_529-0164&fn=Frederick&ln=Replogle&st=r&ssr c=&pid=3425135 Reference for John Evans: 1840; Madison, TN; Roll: 529; Page: 92. url: http://content.ancestry.com/iexec/?htx=View&r=an&dbid=8057&iid=TNM704_529-0186&fn=John&ln=Evans&st=r&ssrc=&pid =3425468 The John Evans on page 92 is as follows: John Evans 1 male of 20 but under 30 (b c1811-1820)--Not exactly right for John Wesley Evans who was born 1807 1 female under 5 (b c1836-1840)--Could be a dau who died young that we don't know about? 1 female of 15 but under 20 (1821-1825)--Not exactly right for his wife Mary Elizabeth Replogle who was born 1817 This isn't a very good match - but it isn't too horribly off either. Jen, can you re-look at your references for the 1840 census and tell me what is up? Were they in another county in TN in 1840 other than Madison? If they are family you would think they would be buried in close proximity to one another. ALL of the graves are in close proximity to one another as this is a VERY VERY small graveyard. As best I can determine there are only a total of 23 stones (but 24 folks are buried there because one of the stones is a double). I can tell you the Potters are all buried right beside one another; but the only other thing I can tell you is that the rest of the graves are at some distance from the Potters. I didn't take all these photos - they were sent to me by a gal who just moved into the new housing development. It's been many years since I was at the site but if memory serves there didn't seem to be any order to the cemetery (graves for the most part didn't appear to be in rows, etc.) they looked like they'd been placed grouped around under trees, etc. While I'm not positive I'd guess that all these EVANS graves are right beside one another - but as I said even if they aren't right beside one another they are still in close proximity simply because the cemetery is so very small. ELI must certainly BE related to John (and judging from birth years) would most likely be a brother. Interesting to note is the fact that John's daughter Mary Catherine was one of the EARLIEST burials in the cemetery; she died on 27 Aug 1863 and there are only 2 other stones which predate this (one for Sabry Williams w/o Thomas Williams who died on 26 Oct 1862 and one for her son N. G. Williams who died Oct 1862) so Mary Catherine Evans was the 3rd person to be buried in the cemetery and her father John was the 4th. I will email the gal who sent the photos to me and ask her if she made notes as to who was buried beside whom, etc. and I'll let you know how these EVANS are situated. Have about a jillion questions for you--I too enjoy having someone to join the hunt (two heads are sure better than one!)
