    1. [EVANS] Evans family in Tuscaloosa, AL/Pontotoc,MS
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: rkernan120 Surnames: Evans Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.evans/9889/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am searching for information on the Evans family I find on the 1850 Tuscaloosa, AL census record. Head of household is Joseph, his wife is listed as Ellender, along with their children. I believe I find the family again listed on the 1860 Pontotoc, MS census record and Joseph appears to have since passed away. Head of household is now spelled Eleanor but I believe it's the same person listed as Ellender in AL. The children's names/ages who are still living at home seem to match. I would very much like to learn more about this family if anyone has any information on them. I am trying to determine if they're my family or not. Thank you. Also on the census of Wm and Edith Evans - the sister-in-law in that is Neva (Geneva) sister to my grandmother Edith. The first Allyn had to have been around some, for there was a daughter also - I do not know her name. Thank you so much there is also another census with an Allen - I really believe that the census taker misspelled the name, common error in that name. Evans in my database, but my gggrandfather was Augustus Haislip Evans (1792-1863) of St. Louis and your Augustus would have been of an age to be the son of one of his brothers. My line was from the Shenandoah County Virgina area and was in St. Louis as early as 1822. His parents were Joseph and Sythe(va) Haislip Evans. Being that Augustus is such an unusual name, I feel that two Augustus Evans' a generation apart is too much to be a coincidence. I will see what I can find out about the children of my Augustus' siblings and if I can connect to your Augustus P. I will let you know if you will send me your email addy to repage@aol.com.
