I have only been able to trace our Texas Evans side back to William George Evans, father of Joseph Wesley Evans, (my g-grandfather), born 20 MAY 1863 in Spring Creek, Madison Co., North Carolina. Died 16 MAR 1945 in Mertzon, Tom Green Co., Texas. Joseph Wesley Evans married Esther M Lusk and she supposedly died in Arkansas on the way to Texas from N.C. but we cannot prove this either. William George Evans supposedly was born North Carolina as well but I cannot find anything. Any help would be appreciated. J. 1. [EVANS] EVANS DNA
    2. Joanne Hodges
    3. Hello.... I'm still searching for Ezer Evans, b. abt 1793 Darlington Co, S.C., raised (partly,at least) in Alabama, married in 1813 to Susannah Lindsey in Christian County, Ky, and lived in Tennessee about 1818 to 1838. Thought to have died in Tennessee between 1838 and 1840. Had sons John, James,Samuel,Josiah, George Washington and Ezer Enoch. May have been connected somehow to Ezer Evans (abt 1760 of S.C.) who married Ellena Douthet (abt 1765 of S.C.) who had a daughter Harriet Byron Evans (md. Isham Frame Woods.) We had two matches with the DNA........but the email for the main match was no longer valid and so far we haven't been able to find him. His name was William Howard Evans.........so, William, if you're out there and read this, please contact me at grandmah@bigskytel.com Joanne Evans Hodges

Author: KemisMassey Surnames: EVANS Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.evans/9891.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: My research doesn't show your EVANS. There is a email list for Georgia that isn't to any specific county. It is a list not a board so you would need to subscribe to post. If you don't want to stay subscribed, you will need to include your email address and ask anyone to reply to it. Send an email to GEORGIA-L-request@rootsweb.com. Put subscribe in the subject line. Have you checked archives for info? http://www.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/sa?DATABASE=index&DBPATH=/u1/data/ga&ELEMENT_SET=HEADLINE&ISEARCH_TERM=evans&MAXHITS=50&SEARCH_TYPE=ADVANCED Your selections are below: Body: State: County: Kind: SubKind: Query Syntax Because you aren't sure of location, I entered only EVANS in the body and GA for state and got 5008 hits for EVANS. When I put Evans John, it got 30,453 hits. The search engine looks at each item as separate entries. After you've scanned GA, put SC in its' place. If you know the county you are looking for i.e. Greenfield, SC then enter in the county field SCGreenf. As a general rule most county lists are state then the 1st 6 letters of the county. 1. [EVANS] Evans family in Tuscaloosa,AL/Pontotoc,MS
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: rkernan120 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.evans/9890/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am searching for information on the Evans family I find on the 1850 Tuscaloosa, AL census record. Head of household is Joseph, his wife is listed as Ellender, along with their children. I believe I find the family again listed on the 1860 Pontotoc, MS census record and Joseph appears to have since passed away. Head of household is now spelled Eleanor but I believe it's the same person listed as Ellender in AL. The children's names/ages who are still living at home seem to match. I would very much like to learn more about this family if anyone has any information on them. I am trying to determine if they're my family or not. Thank you.
