He was in the Oxford Light Infantry form 1899 until 1902 when he was discharged due to malaria. He joined back up again for world war 1 in Oct 1914 - March 1915. That's most of the info I have on him. He lived in GlynGaer from 1910 until he died in 1969. My grandad - Herbert - was his only son, although his wife, I believe, had several children from a previous marriage. Don't know much about her, would be gratefull for any info. He was a political prisoner and deported to Barbado aboard the Falcon at Gravesend, England on Dec. 19, 1635. Benjamin Evans was born in 1772 in NC and died in Illinois in 1850. I have seen his headstone. According to the info I have, Griffith died in Barbados. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Only one child, Peter, is known(?). Peter would have been born about 1620; married w/4 children in 1650. Other Peter Evanses preceded him into Virginia. Retrying submission with corrected subject line: I have a Lazarus Evans, born 1896 in PA - his census records pretty consistently list Pennsylvania as his state of birth. I know he lived in Huron County, OH for a while as he was listed as an early pioneer and married twice there. First to Belinda Stotts in 1824, then to Lydia Trux in 1836. He then moved to Williams Co., OH and married for the third time to Margaret Ritchie. The family went to Illinois in the mid 1840s and then to Minnesota sometime in the 1850s where they remained. According to the death record for Lazarus, his father's name was John. There was another Evans family from Wales that lived near them in Waterville, MN. I found at least one instance of one Evans family witnessing for the other in a marriage. It made me think they may be related and gave a little credence to my grandmother's reference to have some Welsh background. I have never found any of Lazarus' siblings or records of his parents beyond the mention of John and Jane in his death record. There are enough similarities to the stories that it may be worth investigating further. You see my dilemma though, there are so many Charles Evans in the state of MI and I didn't realize that more than one had a wife named Edith. This is definitely going to be harder than I thought Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. The best place to start is to list yourself, your parents, grandparents, g-grandparents, etc. Get all of or as many dates of births, marriage and deaths, with their locations, as you can. Interview your parents, aunts and uncles, and grandparents to gather your information. Keep notes of what is accurate information and what are guesses. For privacy and identity theft reasons, don't post names and any dates of your living family on the Internet. Once you are at that point, you are well on your way, and the Internet will be of great help. This Evans Message Board is quite active, so you should have a lot of help. Good luck in your research.
