Evans, b. 1849, no other information yet determined. Francis B Evans is very probably a descendant of James Black (1740-1780) and Rachel Adams (1743-1787) of Beaufort District, SC, whose descendants I am researching. If you have any pertinent information, please contact me. I am more than willing to share my research. From what grandma said he came over from England as a young man and met and married Bridgette Ann. She does not remember what year this may have been in. And I have no idea where to start looking for immigration records. There are also some records I have found that list him as Miles A. Evans. Although Miles was possibly one of the three brothers with him and the records could have just had the names or dates backwards. Wh can be sure? To bad the records back then were not as good as they are now. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: doctorpens Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.evans/9956/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have been researching the Evans line because of a dna connection I have with them in Claiborne Co., Tn. As I researched John Evans who settled in Claiborne Co. and eventually Bell Co, Tn. a few questions emerge. Some researchers insist that John is the son of William (1754) and grandson of John Evans and Hannah Nokes. I find this line mostly in Georgia. Other researchers say that he is the son of Wm. Evans, 1756, the son of George, Sr. 1730 and a descendant of Walter Evans. Other research indicates that Wm. Evans in Georgia is a descendant of David and Arden Evans. The reason I raise the question is that genetically I match Pleasant Holt in Claiborne Co. and George Abner Evans (1759) from Jasper Co. Georgia. A paternal event occurred somewhere. Genetically I believe that I match the Walter Evans line which means his line must have gone to Georgia also or that possibly David and Walter who both came from Wales in the late 1680s may be brothers. They both ended up i! n Maryland. Any ideas or documented research would be useful. Some of the research I have reviewed seems more wishful than documented. How about if we get a male descendant from each line that has active research going on to provide a dna sample? This would provide incredible information. The answers are available if everyone participates. I can be contacted at [email protected] Send me your phone number and I will call you directly.
