I'd written the posting so long ago I was convinced it was going to go unanswered. Yes, it would indeed appear you and I are related. I believe White Evans' parents were James David "Jim Bud" Evans and Catherine Roberts Evans. I am related on the Roberts side; Catherine Roberts' father William Michael Roberts was my gg grandfather. I have never been able to find William Roberts' wife's name. I'd love to swap family information with you if you're willing. Much of what I know about our lines (those who are deceased only) can be found at http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/ under my specific database id which is crcesc. You can navigate from there to the Roberts/Evans, etc., lines of interest to you. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: jmnutton Surnames: Evans Limb Nutton Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.evans/9995/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi I'm struggling to trace my husband's grandfather Thomas Evans. Thomas and his wife Harriet Limb were married in Mexborough Parish Church in Yorkshire on 9th September 1907. They were both living in New St, Mexborough at the time. Thomas's age on their marriage certificate is 28 and Harriet's is 23. Thomas's father is also Thomas (snr) both listed as labourers; however, Thomas (jnr) was known to work in the coal industry. I don't believe Thomas (jnr) or Harriet were born in Mexborough and they later moved on to Adwick Le Street, where my husband's mother (Sarah) was born on the 10/9/1916. They had a number of children - but Thomas disapproved of Sarah's wedding to my father-in-law, Albert Nutton from Huddersfield and disowned her. Harriet died in Golcar, Huddersfield in 1968 - which shows that she didn't share the same feelings as her husband. From this I presumed that Thomas (jnr) must have died beforehand - possibly somewhere in South Yorkshire. Harriet's family were also coal workers and I've been able to trace her family as they travelled from Leicestershire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire to Leicestershire possibly following jobs in the coal industry. Could Thomas's family have done the same? As there seems to be loads of Thomas Evans with fathers also called Thomas all working in the coal industry - I've struggled to pin-point him in any of the census documents. Being an impatient soul, I'd rather not have to wait until the 1911 census so would be grateful for any ideas/help/info. Thanks in advance Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
