    1. [EVANS] Rev. Edward Chaney and wife Dorcas/ Darcus Evans information needed
    2. RHB
    3. Does anyone have information on the Dorcus/Darcus Evans who married Rev. Edward Chaney in Maryland before 1768. Their sons were Lewis, b. ca. 1768; Evan b. ca. 1770; Joseph b. Feb 27, 1777. There are 12 children in all. They eventually migrated to Ross/Highland County, Ohio. I am most especially interested in finding out who Dorcus' parents were, but any information would be appreciated. Can anyone help? Renee

    2. Bill and/or Evelyn
    3. The only Dorcas Evans that I have was born 4 Jul 1755 to John Evans and Rebecca Ann Martin, but the husband that I have listed for her is John Snider. I have very little listed for this branch, but it probably is close. Maybe an aunt or cousin. Bill -- TUCSON ARIZONA IN THE SHADOW OF THE MOUNTAINS MailTo:[email protected]

    1. [EVANS] EVANS/WEST Families of Warren & Franklin Counties, North Carolina
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: DelorisWilliams87 Surnames: Evans, West, Carter, Toney, Green Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.evans/10086/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I thought I'd share some new info that I've discovered in the past few weeks regarding some of the EVANS & WEST families who were living in Warren and Franklin Counties in the 1800's. In particular, the family of MATTHEW EVANS who died in 1844 Warren Co. NC and whose estate was divided between 8 heirs: FANNEY EVANS, wife of KINCHEN TONEY MOSES MECHAN EVANS, married ELIZABETH TONEY ISAAC EVANS, married WINNIE DALES HENRY EVANS, doesn't appear to have ever married CRECY/LUCRETIA EVANS, married ALLEN GREEN NANCY EVANS, married JAMES GREEN CELY EVANS, married MATTHEW TONEY PATIENCE EVANS, married DAVID MARSHALL. For the longest time no one could discover where MATTHEW EVANS came from, he first appeared in the 1808 Warren Co. Tax List, and it was thought he probably came from Virginia as did some of the other EVANS in the area. But I have discovered that he was actually a former slave name NATHANIEL, belonging to the white landowner, WILLIAM WEST, and that he was emancipated in 1806 after having been purchased from WEST,by MOURNING EVANS, a free person of color who was the wife of NATHANIEL. According to her petition, MOURNING IVINS/EVANS had been married some years before and she and NAT had 8 children together. MATTHEW EVANS was in the 1810 & 1830 Census, but was listed as NATHANIEL WEST, in the 1820 Census. Curiously enough, I had been researching the children of MATTHEW EVANS for a number of years, and could never find them after about 1860, but since finding this new information, it has broken down that brickwall. After 1860, most of the family started using the WEST surname and! they lived in Warren, Halifax, Franklin and Nash Counties. In particular, ISAAC & WINNIE EVANS became ISAAC & WINNIE WEST in 1870, and all of their children carried the WEST surname: WILLIAM EVANS WEST -mar: MARY J. CARTER JOSEPH JOHN WEST - mar: JANE CARTER MATTHEW WEST - mar: HARRIET ODOM PRISCILLA WEST - mar: JOHN EVANS HENRY WEST RICHARD C. WEST - mar: MARGARET McGEE WINNIE WEST - mar: WILLIAM DURHAM BETSEY WEST - mar: JAMES WESTLEY CARTER HAYWOOD DOCK WEST - mar: EMILY ARRINGTON NANCY WEST MOSES WEST - mar: HARRIET PERRY If any of these families are yours, please feel free to contact me, I have lots more info on them and it may be of help to others researching these rather puzzling lines. 3. Hello Evans list....... I've watched and watched the list, and day after day, no one seems to have ever heard of an Ezer Evans b. sometime probably before 1795 (when his wife was born) in either North Carolina or South Carolina, who went from Alabama to Kentucky to marry his sweetheart (whose family had moved there from North Carolina) in Christian Co, Ky in 1813. Her name was Susannah Lindsey (b. 1795 in Chatham Co, N.C., dau of James Alfred Lindsey and Delilah Brewer). They moved around a bit, but lived mostly in Tenn. I've been told he was a school teacher. Al and Pat Evans of Michigan filled me in on a lot concerning their children, but I have never found anyone who lists him as someone's child. He MUST have had a mama and a papa! Any clues, anyone? Please? Thanks, Joanne Evans Hodges [email protected]

    1. [EVANS] William Evans m Celia - Madison County GA
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: mmills1957 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.evans/10085/mb.ashx Message Board Post: What proof is there that William Evans was married to Celia Leverett? Could Celia have been Cela/Celia/Sela Dunn instead? Could there have been two William & Celia Evans in early Madison County? Reason for my asking -- Nancy Evans Bone has been identified as a daughter of William and Celia Evans, born in 1802 in what became Madison County, GA. Nancy married Bailey Bone and can be found in Paulding County, GA. My GGG grandfather, William, was married in Paulding County, GA in 1844 and is there as a single man in the 1840 census along with his brother, Thomas J., who also married in Paulding County, GA in 1838. I suspect that Thomas and William are brothers to Nancy along with a Henry D. Evans who can later be found in Walton County, GA. The parents of Thomas and William were William and Cela (Dunn) Evans. Cela Dunn was the daughter of Henry and Nancy Dunn of Hancock County, GA. Hope someone out there can help! Mona Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. [EVANS] Utica cemetery......Evans
    2. Hello, I am trying to find a tombstone photo of John Evans d. January 29, 1882 and is supposedly buried in Utica, but don't know if there is only one cemetery in Utica or not. John Evans was married to Emeline Hennis, my son descends from their son Alben Evans who married Rebecca Cayton. I was wondering if anyone is working on this line and if anyone might have any photos and information. jamie

Born in the summer of 1925 in a Mid-western state. Of Irish & Cherokee Indian decent. Her name was EDNA. I have looked at the 1930 census and it shows the following: EDWARD ROSK-Husband, Goldie (EVANS-maiden name)-wife. 4 GLUTH children, Robert,Melba,Alfred & Goldie A. EDNA TRACHEL (possible birthmother) born 1925. It states in my Non-ID Info that my mother's mother was married prior and my birthmother had 2 older 1/2 brothers and 2 older 1/2 sisters. All of the GLUTH children are older. My birthmother was discribed as having dark wavy/curly hair, hazel eyes with very long eyelashes and a very good posture. She stated that her mother died when she was 5 and her father died when she was 11. She was raised by her materna; grandmother on a farm in Ohio near some big city. Edna only had a 7th grade education. She liked to read and sew. She did not care for sports to much. Edna lived in Miami, FL from 1942 to 1947 and worked as a bar maid, waitress, housekeeper, babysitter and elevator operator. She said Noland M Ebanks was a birthfather. (I have all of his info).
