Elaine Evans Clark: Just trying to get in touch with you about your family history...might be dead end but am looking for a Edwin Evans who married a Mary Ann Prater in 1839 in Kentucky...ring any bells. Donna In a message dated 11/10/2008 9:38:16 P.M. Mountain Standard Time, [email protected] writes: This doesn't fit any of my family information, but I certainly want to express my appreciation to Shelley for posting this. I was the recipient of some wonderful Evans information that once was rescued from an auction, so I know how important it is to help each other. I am forever grateful to those who are willing to take the time to help other researchers with no personal benefit. My Evans twig came from Pennsylvania to central Ohio (Logan and Union County mainly) in the mid to late 1800's. I also have a number of Roberts in my tree, some connected to the Jones families. I don't know if there is a connection or not but might be worth exploring. BTW I have several cousins named Joe Evans. This doesn't fit any of my family information, but I certainly want to express my appreciation to Shelley for posting this. I was the recipient of some wonderful Evans information that once was rescued from an auction, so I know how important it is to help each other. I am forever grateful to those who are willing to take the time to help other researchers with no personal benefit. Highland County is NE of Columbus, it's up in the Akron area. Also, the connection I'm looking for would be early 1900's. The family of today has no idea as to where the mother was before/went after giving birth. I've lost the only letters (2)exchanged between the son and mother but got the empression she was chased out of Central Ohio by the Roberts family. I get the impression that the mother was a "stray cat" so it's hard to say who fathered her children. The link to Evans DNA caught me off guard as there is no records of a strong Evans pressence in this part of Columbus (NE) even though there were many Evans that came in from the north (Cleveland area) and coal mining areas to the SE. As soon as I figure out how to copy the DNA chart I'll send a copy to see if there is a connection. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Actually Highland County is just East of Cincinnati, in southern Ohio. -- TUCSON ARIZONA IN THE SHADOW OF THE MOUNTAINS MailTo:[email protected]

We have many people who have done DNA. If you email me privately, we can compare notes on the DNA results. He was adopted by that family. DNA links him to "Evans", perhaps his great grandfather. Too late for a shotgun wedding, just interested if the above sounds like a Evans that you know about as the Roberts family doesn't recall the details. Author: PattyThompson125 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.evans/10108/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have been tracking the family of Mary C. (Carrie) Turner 1882-1931 and her husband Edward Fisher Patch 1863-1939. They married Nov. 11, 1896 in Grant Co., WV Mary seemed to have preferred the name "Carrie". She was killed in an automobile accident in Oct. 1931, probably in the Peterburg, WV area. I believe Mary C. Turner to be the sister to my g, grandmother, Gracie Myrtle Turner Upole and since I can only place Gracie in the household of Wm. Turner and Jane C. Evans in the 1880 WV census, it is hardly enough evidence to prove she is the same Gracie Turner who later became the wife of Truman Edward Upole in Maryland in 1893. I am hoping to find possible family members for Mary C. (Carrie) Turner Patch and hopefully learn more about her Turner family. Mary was the mother of three children. Edith O. Patch Dewey M.
