She was born in the summer of 1925 in a midwestern state. She was of Irish and Cherokee Indian decent. BM's mother died when she was 5 yr old and she went to live with her maternal grandmother. Her maternal grandmother was seperated from her maternal grandfather and lived on a farm. BM's father died when she was 11 yrs old. BM was never told the cause of death for her parents. BM had long wavy to curly dark hair, hazel eyes with very long eyelashes, a darker complection and had a very good posture. BM only completed 7th grade. She did not care for sports much but did like to read and sew. BM's mother had been married to another man before she was married to BM's father. BM had 2 older brothers and 2 older sisters. I do not know what my BM's last name was. AM told me that EVANS was a family surname. Could have been her grandmother's last name. BM went to Miami, FL in 1942 and worked as an elevator operator, barmaid, waitress, babysitter and housekeeper. Could not get higher paying jobs because of education level. When I was born (Nov 1945) she was working as a barmaid in Miami, FL. Stated that the people that employed her were very good to her during her pregnancy. Her best girl friends name was Glory (Glori, etc). I was supposed to be named after her but vital satistics office made and error and my name was printed and recorded as Gloria Jean Ebanks. Non-ID info states that my BM supposedly got married (no to my BF) shorty after she placed me for adoption. From what the non-id states, I think she wanted to keep me. I think she was in a low income situation and needed a husband to help financially. I think this man did not want me since I was not his. She stated that she could not ask her new husband to support a child that was not his. She also knew she could not support me on her own. BM did meet and have conversations about me with my AM. AM was very vague with BM info. Only told me her name was Edna and that EVANS was a family surname. Told me my BM was raised on a farm somewhere in Ohio near a large city (could not remember which one). I do not know if she told me the truth or not. Non-id info said BM and new husband moving back to her homestate after my adoption was final. BM had another child, a boy, and called my AM and asked if she could take him too. I do not know how old I was when he was born or anything about him. So, I have a youngr 1/2 brother that I do not know either. Who is this woman????????? HELP!!!!!!!! Hello List, I am seeking the descendants of Thomas Y. Evans. It is believed that Thomas (b. abt 1831) was the son of Henry Evans and Mary/Polly Yadon, and that the Y. in his name is for Yadon. Thomas married Barbary Ann Oden in Warren Co. MO 17 Oct 1852. They appeared on the 1860 Cedar Co., MO census. Thomas and Barbary had three children: William, b. abt 1854, Frances, b. abt 1855, and Elizabeth, born 11 May 1856. William Evans married Louisa and appeared on the 1880 Sedgewick Co. Kansas Census with a son named Thomas. Frances married James Maracle in Cedar Co., MO, 6 Oct 1874. Elizabeth married Squire Aden Carver on 19 Apr 1873. They eventually moved to OK. I would love to hear from descendants of William and Frances. Thanks, Fran
