For those of you who STILL don't know, ZoneAlarm is a completely FREE Personal Firewall!!!!! It has received a "5-Cow" rating from TUCOWS, and has received the highest praise at ZDNet, PCMagazine, etc. Basically, for those of you who are new to these Lists, a "Firewall" prevents others from "backing in" to your system when your modem is connected. It will not allow another server to access anything on your system, unless you authorize it. It will not allow another server to access your BIOS! In short, it erects a barrier between you and all those out there who would log on to your system to either gather data, or to secretly add things to your system. Just as a matter of information, I paid the fee for registering McAfee's "Personal Firewall" and used it for less than a day. I soon realized I had wasted $29.95. Don't be surprised it this one becomes so popular that the company starts charging for it!
