You have probably installed the item twice, I have one in there four times. I still have not figured out how. I will go to the registry some time if I keep this system running very much longer, and find the duplicate entries and remove them. As long as they are unchecked, they will not load. If you need it, check one, and un check the second. If you un check something that is needed, it will tell you by not allowing some action to take place. You go into msconfig the second time and just recheck that item. For my All-in-One, scanner, printer, duplicator, I leave the automatic startup for scanning unchecked, until I need the scanner, then I recheck, restart, and use the scanner. This leaves the drivers where I need them on the machine, and can be controlled easly. >I know, I know.. probably way too general... Not really, there is no general items where computers go. Even if two computers have the same parts, by type, version, and close serial numbers for every part within, they will work different. Once you start loading Operating Systems and such it just gets worse. The problem with the OS's is not all users want the same things, so using the install program, will just install the parts they want. Second problem, MS will not take your word on some of the things, and even though you tell it to not load it, they will, because it will give them money if you use the item. They hope you will give in and use their version or program. E-mail program being a big example. Just try to get rid of Network Neighborhood unless you use some of the programmer programs. Jack

    3. Be aware, that I will be missing a lot for the next two weeks, I will try to answer some questions if I get home before midnight. I am rebuilding a house, and care giving at present, and trying to be too many places at the same time. I sometimes space out for a day or so, trying to keep it all together. I thought after 21 years with the Navy, 19 with the state of California in the UC university area, that I should be able to take it easy for a few years, but fate has stepped in, and changed all the wife's and my plans. I am going to be 65 in three months, and would like to do what I want to do sometime soon. I like to help people, but other duties provail. Jack
