    3. Elaine, it's complicated, but it doesn't mean that Eudora is going to USE MSIE when it comes to email. The recommendation was to make the change in WHATEVER web browser you are using, whether MSIE, Netscape, etc. However..... In order to take full advantage of Eudora's ability to display non-plain-text email, QualComm "recommends" that you use Microsoft's Viewer when displaying email. In Tools/Options/Viewing Mail, there is a place to check, "Use Microsoft's Viewer". If your default web browser is MSIE, when you click on a "link" in an email, Eudora automatically opens MSIE to go to that site. So, Eudora DOES "use" some of the features of MSIE, but there will be no problems. If you don't have MSIE installed, don't worry about it. If you do, you can take advantage of the interface Eudora makes with it. If your default web browser is Netscape (as is mine), when I click a link in an email, it starts Netscape. I have MSIE installed because I need it to use the "Windows Update" in Windows98. You can't properly use that automatic Windows update utility at Microsoft using Netscape. Again, having MSIE installed on your system won't cause you any problems IF you don't use it for email! And, Eudora doesn't use any part of MSIE for anything other than using its Viewer. Does this answer your question? If not, please reply and I'll try to explain further. Do I understand this to mean that it plans to use IE and that I still must deal with MS IE problems when using Eudora as the mail program? Am I better off moving to and staying with the Netscape browser and mail programs? Elaine --------------- SECURITY NOTE --------------- Recent email viruses, such as the notorious "Melissa", have heightened many people's awareness of the need to be careful with email. For maximum protection, we recommend the following: 1. Change your Eudora attachment directory to something other than the default. 2. Disable JavaScript in your web browser. 3. Leave "(Warn me when I) Launch a program from a message" checked in Tools/Options/Extra Warnings. 4. Leave "Allow executables in HTML content" unchecked in Tools/Options/Viewing Mail. Consult <http://eudora.qualcomm.com/security.html> for additional information, including instructions for changing your Eudora attachment directory. **************END OF ORIGINAL MESSAGE TEXT**************

    3. When I click on an e-mail html address, my computer opens MS Express (or whatever that e-mail software is called) which came automatically with Windows98 but I have never used. Where does this "open" instruction lurk? I would like Eudora to be started, not MS David Lewin

    3. It's in the options settings of the browser. You should be able to specify Eudora as your e-mail choice.
