Carol, I am assuming you are using at least version 4.7 or 4.6 of Netscape. In Netscape, you disable Java Script by clicking on "Edit" in the menu bar, then "Preferences". In the resulting window, on the left, you will see "Advanced". Open that option. On the right, you will see all the places to check or uncheck to enable or disable the various Java and Java Script settings. I use Netscape as my default browser. I went to Netscape and clicked on the lock and brought up the infomation but just wasn't sure what to do from there. Can you explain? Also in the Eudora Email Security Advisory, it suggests changing the settings to warn for other files. This sounds a little complicated. Do you think it is necessary if I have done all the other things? Thank you for your help. For maximum protection, we recommend the following: 1. Change your Eudora attachment directory to something other than the default. 2. Disable JavaScript in your web browser. 3. Leave "(Warn me when I) Launch a program from a message" checked in Tools/Options/Extra Warnings. 4. Leave "Allow executables in HTML content" unchecked in Tools/Options/Viewing Mail. Consult <http://eudora.qualcomm.com/security.html> for additional information, including instructions for changing your Eudora attachment directory. (I made a new directory/folder called "DOWNLOADS" and made the changes in Eudora's configuration: Tools/Options/Attachments. If any nefarious servers try to "back in" to your system, and they have instructions to look for C:\EUDORA\ATTACH, they won't find it! 'Course, if you have ZoneAlarm installed, it wouldn't work anyway.) **************END OF ORIGINAL MESSAGE TEXT**************
Thank you George. And please don't run off with Ginger. I read all the posts and have learned more here than anywhere else.
