Mari **************END OF ORIGINAL MESSAGE TEXT************** Just a note of warning - DON'T EVER have more than ONE AV program installed and active at the same time! That's kind of like being married to two different spouses at the same time! If they both are aware that the other exists and has some control/influence over your "system", each will always try to negate the other, make different "recommendations", insist that he/she is the "one" that you should be listening to, and will result in "pure Hell". That also applies to different versions of the same AV program. (I guess that would be like being married to sisters; not as bad as being married to two unrelated spouses, but deadly, just the same.) As to McAfee 2000, if you're not using Windows 2000, I doubt that you will find any references to McAfee 2000, now that McAfee has "sold out" and set up their web site so that one just about HAS to use MSIE to get the best performance. Have any of you noticed that the McAfee web site is now set up so that it is fully integrated with MSIE? Sure, you can still use Netscape, but on many of the links, when you click, it still pulls up MSIE in a separate window! Wonder how much McAfee was paid by MS to do this? SgtGeorge

So far so good, :-) What I don't like is that it found a corrupted file with kak in it and would not clean or delete it.. only quarantined it.. ?????? why It was infact a file that I unzipped from one of my zip disks... geepers.. Now, I'm going to ck all of them once again. I had done this several days ago with the Try Before You Buy Norton.. and it didn't catch it.. I wonder why.. but, I do know that after 3 days, the TBYB program stopped working.. ginger Mike & Ginger Woodcock/EagleRun Australian Shepherds [email protected] http://www.eaglerun1.com Ginger's WebDesign is here to help with your Web Needs, Give us a call, or email with your questions. The quickest way to get to System Scan Properties is to right-click on the "V-Shield" sitting in your tray, move the mouse to "Properties", then click on "System Scan". Click on the "Action" tab. Under "Possible Actions", you will see 5 different choices you can check. You have to check them in order to have them available as options when a virus is found. Make sure you have them checked. Bet you don't! (GRIN) (If you just happen to not have "Show Icon in the Task Bar" checked, you need to do so, so you will have access to all of McAfee's functions from the Task Bar. Go to the McAfee directory and find "vsconfig.exe". Double-click it. When it opens, make sure you are in the "System Scan" tab. Down at the bottom, check the last box. Now McAfee VShield will always be available in the Tray.) While we're at it, all of you should make sure you have enabled all of McAfee's functions. When you get to the VSConfig window, look on the left. Starting at the top, there are System Scan, E-Mail Scan, Download Scan, Internet Filter, and Security. Start with System Scan. Click it. Make sure "Enable System Scan" is checked. Select from the other options how you want Scan configured. I recommend you check all six of the first boxes, under "Scan Files on". In "What to Scan", this is up to you. If you don't have 17 Gb of files on your hard-drive like I do, I would suggest you choose "All Files" and "Compressed Files". If a scan takes too long, you can always go back and choose "Program Files only". Under "E-Mail Scan", check "Enable Scanning of E-Mail Attachments" and under "E-Mail System", check both boxes. Under "Download Scan", check "Enable Download Scanning". Select "All Files" and "Scan Compressed Files". Under "Internet Filter", check all boxes. Under "Security" I don't have this one enabled. It's for "pass-wording" the use and configuration of McAfee. Hope this helps, SgtGeorge
