Thank You! Thank You! Thank You, Debbie! I do believe this is what was happening. I did not have this checked off in the Tools before. (I've only been using Eudora since January.) AND I KNOW I've been scanning everything before opening. I didn't realize when I was deleting the Snow white, etc. Ha ha ha (not opening first) that it all wasn't being deleted.
