I also went to the Eudora Tech Support site in search of an answer. I ran across a notation that if the time was not synchronized between programs it might cause a problem with the sound. Bizarre. I noticed that the WordPerfect Alarm Clock was in the start up tray. I exited from it. Voila! Problem solved. Go figure... Thanks for your response. Rel@ively, Patrice
