    1. [EUDORA] July 22
    2. Dilys Rees
    3. Hello listers, I am brand new on this list but I decided to post my question immediately because I'm having a hard time with my Eudora and Rootsweb. As you can see, I am using my yahoo address as I was unable to subscribe with my Eudora address. The request was returned with the message "permanent fatal errors". Until about 2 months ago, I participated in Rootsweb lists with no problems, for approximately 3 years - subscribing, posting etc. Then, all of a sudden, I was no longer able to post. All my messages from my Eudora address were returned. I did not change anything on my Eudora. I don't know enough about computers to re-set things. So I don't know why this happened. I've checked in on Eudora sites but I'm too much of an amateur in computers to really understand what is being talked about. All that I know is that for 3 years I had no problem, then all of a sudden I can't even get off the lists if I want to because even my messages to leave the list are returned "permanent fatal errors". As well, emails to addresses that I used with no problem are now being returned. Addresses with juno in them for example. The thing is, I have corresponded with these people at these addresses for years with no problems. Now nothing goes through, everything is returned. My Eudora is an early version 3.0. Could that be the problem? Sorry for so long a message but I am feeling rather frustrated. I hope someone out there can give me some suggestions. Thank you, Dilys Karen Rees Goiânia - Brazil _______________________________________________________________________________________________ Yahoo! GeoCities Tenha seu lugar na Web. On a Mac, hold down the option key and double click on the link; it pops up a dialog box that lets you choose the browser. On a PC, maybe the control key? In Eudora 5.1 (on the Mac), there's a Selecting a URL Helper option under the Help menu. Slán, Mo!

    3. Lee! It sounds like Netscape is set to be your default browser. Try going to My Computer/Control Panel/Internet Options/Programs and click on the 'Reset Web Settings' button. This should make IE your default browser. NOTE that this may reset other options that you may have changed. Not sure what all is affected. A young 16 yr old has my addy and I bet I get 50 emails a day from her.. I can't help her, but she continues to post..... I need to block her addy. I thought I had done it right, but then here came 6 more emails within 3 minutes of my good thinking...LOL Thanks ever so much ginger Ginger, If this person has your addy, then just set up a filter so that all messages from that person get dumped into either your Trash or into a possible spam folder. When one of the messages come in from this person, highlight that message then choose Special > Make Filter > her email address should be in the From field. In the Action section choose "Transfer to an existing mailbox" then choose "Trash". All messages from that person will go right into your trash bin. But only choose the Trash bin if you *know* that nothing this person has to say will be of any importance to you. Another good thought is, have you tried sending an email to her ISP to complain about the spamming she is doing to you? With most ISP's you can send it to abuse@ISPName.com (put whatever the actual ISP is where it says ISPName.com. Hope this helps you, Debbie

Can filters be used to route mail to a folder? Mailboxes are contained within folders with the exception of the ones in the Eudora directory (In, Out, Trash) Mail can only be routed to a mailbox. The folders are in reality directories. If you look at the Eudora directory with Windows Explorer (PC users only) you will see directories that might look like a filename because they have and extension (.fol) These are your folders. If you open one of them, you will see files with extensions .mbx and .toc These are you mailboxes and indexes to the mailboxes. >More specifically, if I have XXXSurname as a main line and set up a mailbox >for it, could I have collateral lines as folders in/under XXXSurname mailbox? I've done the same thing. Since I have use Eudora for years I have archived messages under a year folder. The folder structure under the year folder is the same as my main directory that way I can find old messages easily. Gene

More specifically, if I have XXXSurname as a main line and set up a mailbox for it, could I have collateral lines as folders in/under XXXSurname mailbox? In MSOLE I had main line folders with collateral subfolders, worked nicely. TIA, Sue

    1. [EUDORA] Re: Background printing in Eudora
    2. Mike, I think the option to print the background or not is in either your printer or your browser. I know it's there somewhere, but I can't find it either.
