Where, in the "after editing" example do you see any evidence of "HTML"? The only thing that has changed, that I can see, is that there are now blank lines between paragraphs, as it should be. OK, maybe I'm coming in here late and don't understand all I have seen on the subject of having a shortcut on the Desktop to send an email to someone, with a certain attachment. Using my limited intelligence, this would seem to me to be something that something would want to do when sending the same email over and over again to the same person, with the same attachment. ????? May I ask, "WHY?" Eudora has so many wonderful features, such as "Stationeries", that I cannot imagine wanting to set up a shortcut on the Desktop. This sort of thing seems to be trying to defeat all the things Eudora will do, and, in fact, is kind of like having an auto that will start by turning on the ignition key, but choosing to park it on a hill and start it by rolling it down the hill and popping it into gear to get it running. Folks, unless I'm missing something, I don't understand all this "mailto:" shortcut nonsense. Please correct me if I'm off base. Explain WHAT you are trying to do, and WHY. I can assure you that you can do the same thing WITHIN Eudora, without all the "rolling down the hill" shortcuts. Yes, you CAN have command lines for opening new emails, to certain, recipients, with certain subject lines, and with certain body texts. But, to what end? Why not have a "Stationery" set up in Eudora, which you only have to click on to send it? In either case, the Eudora program will still open up, and you're not saving any time making all those shortcuts. I am using Eudora Lite. I receive messages from several maillists and I often edit them in order to save the parts I want. Recently, many of the editted results are being changed into what I think is html format. This allows you to go straight to the 1920 Census Image, without having to know the ED etc. It does include the Roll# the ED and the page number if you needed it. It works, but not the way it used to. In the last version I had created personality buttons on the button bar. When I did a redirect and clicked the button, it replaced the whole From: line with whatever personality I selected. Using this method, you have to manually delete the redirect information. Margaret's suggestion worked for me. I use Eudora 5.1 Sponsered Mode added the line and was able to redirect without the "by way of" note. Hi, all.... It used to be that when I selected "re-direct", I could edit out the (by way of...) part in the "from" field. Now Eudora (Pro 5.1) doesn't let me edit out my own address in that field... Can't find an option to do that either. What am I missing, please? Thanks, all... Susan
I delete them. I think they come from people that use Microsoft Outlook. I just noticed something strange. Hi, Sylvia, ><<My Eudora attachment folder has a whole bunch of these files, each with >a different number on it. Winmail5.dat, Winmail7.dat, etc. Where did >they come from and should they be deleted? Thanks. Sylvia G.>> Those mini-attachments usu. are reflective of someone using Outlook. When they use Microsoft Word as an email editor, and/or when they use "Microsoft Rich Text" to format their email messages, Eudora receives them as those little attachments. You can just delete them from the "Attach" folder. All the best, Susan
My Eudora attachment folder has a whole bunch of these files, each with a different number on it. Winmail5.dat, Winmail7.dat, etc. Where did they come from and should they be deleted? Thanks. Sylvia G.

Hi All, Hope you're all still there! Been kinda quiet! <g> 1. Does anyone use the PureVoice feature on Eudora? A friend is trying to get me to use it. I can hear his messages fine (as well as any other kind of sound files). I've plugged in my mike (checked it more than once for right connection) and have attempted to make recordings. On playback of my attempted recordings, there is never any sound. I've tried finding my problem in the help files, but.........nothing. Any ideas? It's the first time I've used the mike so maybe I'm missing something. 2. My friend is in sponsored mode.......whenever he opens Eudora to check for new mail, the program *always* opens up to a blank email as if he is going to write a letter. He always has to close it. No major problem........just annoying. Is this normal for sponsored mode? Can he stop from opening this way? I have the full paid version so I don't know if there is a difference. Thanks for any help. Have a good weekend! ;-) Linda

Find the little speaker in the systray at the bottom of your screen in the taskbar area. Double click on it. Do you see section title Mic? If you do, is the Mute block at the bottom of that section checked. If it is click on it and uncheck it. You should be ready to go. If there is not Mic section, select Options>Properties from the menu. In the section labeled "Show the following Volume controls:" Click on the box beside Mic. Click on OK. Look at the mute check box again and make sure it is not checked. If it's not you're ready to go. You may have to come back to this to adjust the recording volume. You'll just have to play with it to get it right. No idea about your other problem. Never seen it. Gene
