Is it possible to have a "Reply To" statement in the header? [It would be a possible 3rd party address.]. The reason is this: I receive a message I must forward to a list for someone. I do NOT want the reply to this message to come to me, but to the person I must forward the message for. IE: To: [mail list address] Reply-To: [original sender of message] From: [my e-mail address] What can I do in Eudora 4.3 to accomplish this? Sincerely, Edward, Sr. --

To find out in a fast way who the URL is, just go to Netscape, if you use it, and type in the number given. The browser will try to take you to the URL. If I remember right, this is maybe one of the Netscape numbers itself. If you have a personalized Netscape page, they will look at you frequently. About 5 minutes after I posted the previous email about Zone Alarm, it popped up and told me that a remote computer was trying to access my system. (My TCP connection was still open; I have it set to log off after 15 minutes of inactivity.) I had nothing else running, and it wasn't time for Eudora to do a scheduled download. It was some other computer trying to get in to my system!!!!! I just wonder how many times that has happened before I installed Zone Alarm? The address of the other system was 209.240.199.155 and now I have to find out what address that belongs to. I tried to use Eudora's Directory Services, but can't get it to work with that particular Host/Account Name. Any suggestions? SgtGeorge

I sent this a week ago: "I also downloaded a free program to set up an "ersatz firewall" on the PC, which will stop ALL attempts at hacking from others. I am rushed for time right now, but tomorrow will send the URL for the free check of users' systems, and the URL for downloading the free program." Sorry I didn't get back sooner. Here's the URL for the utility: http://www.zonelabs.com ZoneAlarm is an Internet security utility and firewall that detects all Internet access on your computer and controls which programs have access to the Internet. Version 2.0.26 combines many improvements to ZoneAlarm's capabilities and usability, including a complete local firewall with easy-to-use security level settings and advanced local and Internet zone capabilities. ZoneAlarm works with most types of TCP/IP connections, including Ethernet LAN, DSL, cable modem and dial-up connections. Basically, what ZoneAlarm does is this: If it is running when you connect to the Internet/Web, via Netscape, MSIE, Eudora, MS Outlook, etc., AND if a remote computer tries to access your computer to look for data or to place something on your system, ZoneAlarm, if already set properly, will deny such access if you have configured No Access, or will ask you what to do if you have configured it to do this. It takes up very little RAM and Resources. You might run it for weeks before you get the first attempt by a remote computer to access your system; on the other hand, it might be the next time you use your web browser. You just never know. Better save than sorry! SgtGeorge

Thanks! This helps. Would you please walk me through the format for seeing Carter unless it is Carter Co. or Carter County or unless it occurs on the Carter list? (I can cope with seeing posts from the Carter list, but the Carter Co., ones are quite numerous, and interestingly never contain Carters!) And is there, or could there be, a way to not see material from the British lists or Australian lists, which frequently contain "carter" as an occupation? If Rootsweb had a hierarchy of lists, with the first split being "genealogy/non genealogy (I'm seeing a lot of "homespun" and "rural mail carriers" at the moment), by continent or country, that would facilitate my screening. I've given up on using PML for my Halls, and am on the verge of it for Downs, having seen a lot of racecourse references and obits referencing a particular funeral home. Here's a better way to move/copy files from drive/directory to drive/directory than the COPY/PASTE routine. Make sure that anything you are using is minimized; that is, you see ONLY the Windows Desktop. Hold down "Winkey" (the key on your keyboard that has the Windows logo) and hit the "E" key. That will open Explorer. Once it opens, do it again. Now you have TWO versions of Explorer open. RIGHT-click down at the bottom of your screen, in a "blank" area, that is, somewhere where you don't click on an actual icon. Choose "Tile Windows Vertically". That causes the two instances of Explorer to be tiled on the left and right. Now you can just click and drag files from one directory to another. In one of the windows, select the drive and directory to which you wish to copy the files; in the other window, go to C:\WINDOWS\FONTS and select the files you want to COPY. To select more than one file, you can click on the first one, then, holding down the CTRL key, click others. You can select contiguous files by clicking on the first one, then, holding down the SHIFT key, click on the last one. That highlights all of them. Now that you have selected the files to COPY, RIGHT-click and while HOLDING DOWN the right mouse button, drag to the directory in the other window to which you wish to copy the files. Release the mouse button. You will be asked, among other things, whether you wish to MOVE the files or COPY the files. Choose COPY. That should allow you to copy all the files to the new directory. Ginger, if you are referring to "Windows Critical Update", you won't find it sitting in your Tray. Microsoft can just get to "cutesy" and detailed for a user's own good. The more junk that we allow to be loaded at Windows, the more we pay for it in diminished System Resources. Unfortunately, Eudora DOES use up LOTS of Resources by its very nature. It is such an intensive email program that it MUST use Resources to do all that we insist it must do.
