OK, will gladly accept opinions and advice from all.. :-) As to your resources being low, well..... as long as there are thousands of emails in the mailboxes, Eudora does "suck up" Resources. I'm in the process (again) of saving hundreds of emails to .txt files, so I can clean up, and even delete some mailboxes. It's very tempting to create folders and mailboxes for every subject, no matter how trivial. Just remember, the more folders, mailboxes, and emails Eudora has to load, the more Resources are used. Even if the emails don't go down more than say 100 as opposed to 400. I'm just wondering if you can sway the stats by bending the curve a bit.. ??? g **************END OF ORIGINAL MESSAGE TEXT************** No. Loading the mailboxes take up a "little" of the Resources. The emails are what suck up most of them. For instance moving ALL emails to, for example, the IN Box, and deleting all other Mailboxes, would save "some" Resources, but you would still be "loading" the same number of emails, which loading is the real culprit. I don't know how many saved emails I have in Eudora right now, but I know it's way up in the hundreds and hundreds, might even be close to 600 or 700. I have 167 in my IN Box alone! That's why I'm "cleaning house" again. If I start Eudora with nothing else running and my resources are below about 45%, then I know it's time to clean out some. For a long time, when I booted Windows, I had 64% remaining Resources; now it's down to 62%. Gotta find out what is loading since recent program installation. As an aside, if any of you haven't yet checked out XTeq/X-Setup yet, you should try it. It's what I use to see everything that is loading when Windows starts and to disable anything I don't need to load. No, you can't do a CTRL-ALT-DEL and see EVERYTHING that is loading! That will show you only about half of the "behind-the-scene" things that are loading. XTeq is a similar program to TweakI, if any of you are familiar with it, but about 10 times as powerful, AND it's FREE. SgtGeorge

I do not use any AV or other TSR's except sound, and zone alarm. I have the scanner software installed for scanner init. scanning, but have it unchecked in msconfig. I can enable it any time I need it. For AV, I scan only about once a week. I have a full time cable modem, but am very careful where I go. With the use of Eudora, and being careful, none of the latest Virus problems have been a problem for me. It is also very important, to load things in a line, so that all will work together, without fighting each other. I restart about every two hours whether I need to or not, to flush out the memory stack. I immediately restart every time I use PSP or Photoshop, as well as any other graphic programs, as they leave lots of lost bits of code in the stack. I have not done a clean rebuild of this hard disk in over 4 years, so it is getting very slow, but still works fine. So the wonder is what am I doing, or not doing that is so different that I am doing OK. I am wondering which of the three resource stacks is the worst for your system, as that is the one reported most by most checking software. I frequently have e-mail open, two or three netscape windows, and even PSP running at the same time with only about 50% used. Are you letting windows control your swap disk? There can be some problems there, as if it is swapping too much, and with too large of chunks of code, it uses resources like mad to do so. Jack

Candace **************END OF ORIGINAL MESSAGE TEXT************** Eudora puts attachments in its own directory, i.e. C:\EUDORA\ATTACH, or whatever is the path to Eudora. There is no way to stop attachments from being placed in the ATTACH directory. What you have to do is periodically use Explorer (WinKey+E) and navigate to that directory and just delete those that you KNOW you don't want to keep. As to the "Internet Toolkit\Download" directory, that must be something that was installed for some Internet program you use. If you've deleted them, and later more show up, all you can do is just delete them also. BUT, BE CAREFUL! Unless you know for certain that they're not used by some program, leave them alone. Any attachments that are stored anywhere won't do any harm other than to, as you say, take up space. I have to clean out the Eudora ATTACH directory about once a week, since I still get email from people using those danged VCard attachments. Also, as a Listowner of 20 Lists, I receive all "bounces" from servers telling me that mail to so-and-so user can't be delivered.
