When I come to my puter in the am, I turn my monitor on and the McAfee window is open and waiting for me to click on OK to start scan.. which is has done from the beginning. I did ck the Log and the scan was not done, yesterday or this am without my manually clicking the button. There should be 2 scans logged for yesterday am and this am.. there is only one.. and that is the one I did. I'm just not sure what I'm doing wrong. But, it would be so nice to have it done already when I'm ready to work.. So, I'm at a loss :-( g Mike & Ginger Woodcock/EagleRun Australian Shepherds [email protected] http://www.eaglerun1.com Ginger's WebDesign is here to help with your Web Needs, Give us a call, or email with your questions. 1. Re: [EUDORA] What Loads in System Tray; Also, PSP6 Causing Problems
    2. Rene' Marker
    3. Well, George, I just reported what some power PSP users have reported. I learned to use PSP at an online learning site called ZDU (now known as Smartplanet.Com). There are message boards where you can post and ask questions, etc. The resource problem has come up on these boards many times. Several of the posters with the problems who tried to help others were authors of books on PSP. I think in my case most of the problems with PSP come when I have IE and Eudora open at the same time as PSP. Now if I just want to look at something in PSP, it is fine, but if I start to create something, oops, there goes the system. I just avoid the problem by only having PSP open when I feel creative ;) I agree that I could get rid of the mixer and fax program in my startup. Haven't had any problems with them and resources are good so just haven't bothered. Now with my time setting program, it is a different story. You see I have a very unique computer in that it either loses time in a big way or gains time in a big way (I'm talking 10 to 15 minutes here) but never consistently. Since this is the only clock in the room, I'd like it to be right! Since I got my cable modem a month ago and have had the time program in the systray, the most it has been off is 10 seconds!!! But I still worship my picky lil puter and spend a lot of time with it <VBG> Rene' At 03:10 AM 6/1/2000 -0400, you wrote: >René, it's funny, but different programs cause problems for different users. > I >am a VERY dedicated PSP6 user, and I NEVER have the problems with it that you >describe. 3. Rene' >Actually George, once I uninstalled CrashGuard, I haven't had any problems >:) I agree that CrashGuard is a problem but the rest of the utilities are >nice and unobtrusive. Well, I am not sure why, but there was no uninstall in my crashguard program and when I went to add/remove, Crashguard was not listed there either.. I think I have finally disabled it tho. I thought this was strange, but Mike installed the Norton utilities on his puter as well and had the same headache with image and crashguard, he couldn't find an uninstall either.. I've hunted and hunted, I saw what I thought was an uninstall file, but when I clicked on it.. nothing at all happened... like it was a dead file. Yes, I do like the rest of the program as well. >Oh by the way, I used to use McAfee Virus Scan and I prefer Norton <VERY >BIG GRIN>. Well, I have both, and will give McAfee a good month or better to see which I like better, then will uninstall McAfee and install Norton and give it a shot. My problem with McAfee is this.. I did as George suggested and inserted the line /AUTOSCAN /AUTOEXIT I've rebooted and it still will not do the auto scan in the am... I'm feeling really puter stupid right now.. and I was on such a roll.. LOLOL >What I love most about this list is all the opinions and help you get. 3. Ginger, you should find it using Explorer (WinKey+E) and navigation to C:\EUDORA, or wherever you installed Eudora. There should be a file called EUDORA.INI. If you just happen to have configured Windows so that the file list in Explorer does NOT show the extensions, e.g., "EUDORA.INI" would just show up as "EUDORA", then you WON'T see that exact file name. Just look for whatever text viewer you're using, e.g., NotePad, and open up the file from the Eudora directory. In the past, several other users have reported the same problem and it turned out they had configured Windows as I mentioned above. I couldn't operate in Explorer if I couldn't see the extension!!!!! If any of you need to reconfigure so you CAN see the file extensions, here's how: 1) Open Explorer (WinKey+E) 2) Click on View 3) Click on Folder Options 4) Click on the View "Tab" at the top 5) Look for the folder "Files and Folders" 6) Under that folder, look for "Hidden Files" 7) Look for "Show All Files"; click the little circle so that there is a dot in the circle 8) Just under this entry, look for "Hide File Extensions for Known File Types". Make SURE this is NOT checked. If it IS checked, click on box to uncheck it. Now, you should see EUDORA.INI when you use Explorer. If that line is NOT in EUDORA.INI, use a text editor, such as NotePad, and, under the [Settings] header, add that line. Click to compose a New Message, or reply to an original. In the From: line, delete whatever you have set as default, and just type in whatever you want there. Test it by sending a message to yourself. Send it, wait a couple of minutes, and download your waiting email. You should have one to you, from whatever address you typed in. Unless you also used Edit-X, if you "expand" the headers in the received email (by clicking on the "Blah-Blah-Blah" icon), you will see a header like this: X-sender: Which will contain your "real" address, as configured in Eudora. If you use Edit-X to prevent Eudora from adding the "X-sender" header, there will be no header in the test email that identifies you, except for the one that is used internally by @sat.net to identify you and the message ID.
