    1. ETHERINGTON, Harry, England and Pennsylvania
    2. Hello, I am in search of Harry and wife Julia Caroline (O'Brien) ETHERINGTON.  Harry's birthdate is unknown but he was born in England. Julia was born 1873 in England.  She came to US approximately 1883.  Their parents are unknown to me at this time. Harry ETHERINGTON and Julia Caroline O'BRIEN married probably around 1891 or so.  Harry died prior to 1910.  The known children were John, Margaret (b. 1892, also known as Nellie), William (b. abt. 1896), and Sarah Anne (b. 1894). In 1910, Julia and son William were in Northampton, South Bethlehem, PA., enumeration district #0118.  Only three of her children were alive at the time of the 1910 census (Margaret, Sarah and William).  I would love to hear from you if you know of this family.  I've been stuck for years.  I can NOT find them anywhere on the 1900 census.  I've tried every different spelling for ETHERINGTON that I can think of. Thanks much! Jo Dee Frasco JONICK5029@aol.com

    3. ----Original Message----- From: The Cook's [mailto:fcec@lvcm.com] Sent: Tuesday, July 16, 2002 9:53 AM To: MODAVIES-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [MODAVIES] Ethington, Croft, Fleisher and Koons 1871 Good Morning, I've received pg. 695 of the "History of Daviess County" in which their is a short history of Crofton. "August 17, 1871, the new station on the Chicago & Southwestern Railroad, halfway between Gallatin on the northeast and Cameron on the southwest was given for a short time the name of Crofton. This elevated and undulating prairie was said to the be highest point of land in the county and was owned my Mrs. Susan ETHINGTON, Frederick CROFT, Jacob FLEISHER and Henry KOONS. The owners donated a large portion of the town site to the railroad company, both for railroad and town purposes." I'm writing as ask if anyone knows how I might go about finding more information concerning these people and the donation of land..would records be kept like a Bill of Sale would? My gggGrandmother, Susannah (SHERRILL) ETHINGTON had 2 sons, James ETHINGTON and Scott S. ETHINGTON (my line). James was married many times and one wife was named Susan..I'm wondering if the Mrs. Susan Ethington, mentioned above could have been her. In the Daviess County, Mo. 1870 Census James ETHINGTON is listed and next listed is Susan ETHINGTON. However I can't make out her age..sometimes I've seen it looks like it may be the age of his mother and other times an age his wife would be. I would appreciate any help in this little mystery and the history of "the Gallatin Company" from which the donated land became known as Winston. Thanks for your suggestions, Marie Cook A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in. ~Greek proverb ************** Here are the only two entries for Ethingtons in Daviess co., MO in 1880. 3. I have 2 ETHERINGTON families that marry in Bermondsey (Southwark) but so far I haven't been able to connect them. The first has Joseph ETHERINGTON, son of John, born c1795 in Southwark or just maybe c1799 at Arundel, Sussex. He married Hetty HOLMES in 1821 at St Nicholas Church, Brighton in Sussex. The other family is John ETHERINGTON born c1811 who married Sarah AUSTIN in 1829 at St Bride's, Fleet Street. Both families later live in Bermondsey, just south of the Thames. Along the way to searching these I have been trying to trace all members of the various ETHERINGTON families in Australia. If anybody has any information on any of these people or areas (or would like to see if I can help you) I should be most grateful if you would contact me. Kerry Farmer in Sydney, Australia
