Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/ZUV.2ACIB/24.2 Message Board Post: I am interested in your lineage. My gg-grandfather was Francis Etherton Dawson. The Etherton name was passed down to children and grandchildren as a middle name, so I feel there has to be a connection to an Etherton family. One grandson spelled his name Etherington instead of Etherton. Francis Etherton Dawson was born about the same time as your Frances Etherton. He was born in Tennessee (so the census say), migrated to Jackson County, IL where he lived among some Ethertons. He married Catherine Woolsey of Kentucky and they had a number of children (Roxalana, Mary Ann, Susanna, Henry, Jane Etherton, and I believe a Martha). He and family moved to Franklin Co. IL by 1850. He died in 1861 and the family moved to Laclede County MO. Please let me know if any of this rings a bell.

I stand corrected from the last email. I have just found Julia and Harry (JOHN ETHERINGTON) on the 1900 census. There was one spelling of the name ETHERINGTON that I did not check: EDRINGTON. His name was John on the census. After all of these years I finally found them! They were in Pittsburgh, PA. 1900 census (EDRINGTON): John ETHERINGTON born in 1869 in England, came to US in 1892 Julia born in 1872 in England, came to US in 1892 Ellen (Margaret) born in 1892 in PA Sarah born 1894 in PA Harry born in 1896 in PA John born in 1897 in PA Do you know of this family?
