Author: jc33b Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.etherington/145.4.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Karl, my work is pretty speculative. The Bubwith register is on Ancestry and the Howden register on acrhive.org. Hemingbrough (B&M) is on family search. Based on this, I speculate that John etherington (b c 1660) was the son of John etherington who was buried in Bubwith 'of Breighton' 23/6/1688. This John I speculate was born in Hemingbrough 1/1/1609 to John (5.5 miles s of Breighton) to Edward. Edward also had a son Matthew (bap 23/9/1612 Hemingbrough) whose wife Isabel 'of Menthorpe' near Breighton was buried at Bubwith 28/2/1657. Edwaard probably came fromHowden, born about 1570 to Thomas and Isabel, who baptised several children between 1560 and 1566. There is a property fine concerning this Thomas in 1573 for lands in Holme in Spandingmore and Hoveden, which suggests a connection back to the Etherington family there. The only connection i can see is that Thomas could be the son of the Thomas named in Randell Hetherington's will (1524) at Holme on Spaldingmoore, probabl! y a cousin. I doubt this analysis would pass muster at the SOG, but it is at least an hypothesis for further testing. John Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: kpt68 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.etherington/145.4.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Thanks for looking at this. My Etheringtons start with my ggg-grandmother Hannah (1812-1897) of Wheldrake, daughter of Thomas Etherington (1784-1856) and Mary Mawson. Thomas's parents were George Etherington (b:1744) and Mary Tindall of Hive (Bubwith parish) and George was son of another George Etherington (b:1697) and his second wife Jane Water, also of Hive. George was son of John Etherington and Frances Blanchard (b:1657) of Bubwith. Let me know if this fits with any of your research. He married Margaret Lamplugh around 1691. They were the children of another George Etherington of Driffield (1635-1709) who married an Olive Seymour. His father was also a George, tthe one time rector of Middleton on the Wold, alsobthe son (probably) of a George, son of William (died 1562 Driffield) son of Randell (died Holme on spalding Moore 1525). I found a record for Ruth's baptidsm on the Driffield record to George 19/11/1665. John Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
