Etheridge *was born in 1773 in the Edgefield District of North Carolina and moved to Wallace Jones County in Georgia in 1815. In 1818 Malachi moved to Conecuh County, AL and settle on a plantation on the Conecuh River near Boykin. Malachi married Margaret Wheatley (1777 -- 1844) and they had a son John Wheatley. *John Wheatley Etheridge *was born on January 30, 1810 in North Carolina and married Lucinda Susan Mendenhall (10/8/1824 -- 10/07/1905) on October 7, 1841 in Brooklyn, AL. They had eleven children as follows: Mary Jane, Malachi Wheatley, Margaret Eliza, Sarah Elizabeth, Nancy Josephine, Thomas William, John Patrick, James Walter (3), George Washington, Martha Eugenia, Lula Bell. John Wheatley died on January 4, 1897 Both John Wheatley and Lucinda are buried in the Belleville United Methodist Church Cemetery in Conecuh Co., AL.
