I am from the Samuel Ethridge/Etheridge line. I do not know who his parents are and he is not in the 10 Generations book. He was born in NC and moved to Georgia. His date of birth ranges from 1792 to 1816 using the census reports!! He ended up in Calhoun County, Florida and is believed to have died between 1880 and 1885. I do have an Ethridge family member who has stated that he would enter a sample into the DNA project....we just need more info on the how-to. Several spellings of our Ethridge line. I have not been able to connect to the “10 generations of Ethridges”. Mine seem to be: John c. 1785 NC md. Elizabeth (?) md. 2) Elizabeth (?) d. c. 1847 Children: John II 1813 Henry 1814 Jared 1815 (?) Aaron 1815 Matthew 1816 James I 1821 Peter 1822 Napoleon 1833 ( my line) (in 1850 he is living with Elizabeth and Henry Hill. believed this is his mother and second husband) Alexander 1842 William 1843 This line of Ethridges seem to come from NC-TN (Smith Co., )- Illinois, and Missouri, and on to Wisconsin. Also been said that John was part Indian? Joyce Witt jmwitt@mtco.com
>From the locations, I would suspect that you are indeed related to the rest of us, George. Is there an active Etheridge yDNA project which could serve to confirm or deny your kinship? Since yDNA follows the strictly male line of descent, you would need to go back to your closest Etheridge surnamed cousin.
