The dates that I have on him is born 1844 and died 1881 and on both the marriage license and two census he is listed as a farmer. The license has his parent as James and Eliz. In the 1850 census, a James and Eliz is listed in Portsmouth section of Norfolk County as a carpenter and then later as a house builder. This is by brick wall! I was able to buy it online a few years ago, but it is likely out of print now. Full details on the book are: Ten generations of the Etheredge-Etheridge-Ethridge family in America compiled by Fae Alice Etheredge and Ema Lee Etheredge Tipton. Hi Ellen, We have a little Etheridge y-chromosome study going on at www.familytreedna.com. I am the administrator. Email me at steve.etheridge59@gmail.com and I can give you details if you like. I do not know who his parents are and he is not in the 10 Generations book. He was born in NC and moved to Georgia. His date of birth ranges from 1792 to 1816 using the census reports!! He ended up in Calhoun County, Florida and is believed to have died between 1880 and 1885. I do have an Ethridge family member who has stated that he would enter a sample into the DNA project....we just need more info on the how-to. Some Ancestry users say Edgecombe, but I can't verify that. There is a choice of fathers for him as well. . .can't verify those either Gael Entrikin 210 14th St NE Rochester, MN 55906 (507) 288-3948 “Anything else you’re interested in is not going to happen if you can’t breathe the air and drink the water. Burrell Etheridge, born in 1793 in North Carolina, is quite easy to track after that. Any ideas about his parents appreciated. The "Ten generations" book isn't available in Minnesota libraries. . . He married Anna Mabin (Maben) in Dickson, Tenn, where their daughter Cassie is born, her marriage to Young Ewing Costley in 1842 is the first sign I have of their being in Barry Co. Missouri. I hope someone is familiar with this Burrell. Both the ETHERIDGE and ETHRIDGE spellings are common in my line, descendants of Shepherd ETHERIDGE and his 3 wives. I descend from the third wife Matilda EVANS. Anybody have proofs beyond this Shepherd? I've seen a lot of allegations, but most only offer other GEDCOMs as proof
My Ethridge family is from N. Carolina Notice the spelling -----Original Message----- From: etheridge-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:etheridge-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of George Weaver Sent: Monday, February 27, 2012 12:28 PM To: etheridge@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [ETHERIDGE] How many Etheridge lines Additional information: My Etheredge family was in Halifax County, NC in the 1790's and possibly into the early 1800's before moving to Georgia. They were later in Warren County, Georgia. Two male Etheredge cousins have participated in a yDNA test. The results indicated no match with another Etheredge family; however, the results matched descendents of a Butt(e) family from Norfolk County, VA. Caswell Etheredge was born in NC, and the family bible lists the death of Selah Etheredge (likely his mother). A 1795 NC will indicates that Selah Etheredge was the daughter of Unity Etheredge (female). Caswell Etheredge moved to Georgia with his mother as a small child according to traditional family information. Any additional information will be appreciated. -----Original Message----- From: etheridge-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:etheridge-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of George Weaver Sent: Monday, February 27, 2012 10:48 AM To: etheridge@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [ETHERIDGE] How many Etheridge lines Two male Etheredge cousins have participated in a yDNA test. Is there an active Etheridge yDNA project which could serve to confirm or deny your kinship? Since yDNA follows the strictly male line of descent, you would need to go back to your closest Etheridge surnamed cousin. My Etheridge Ethridge line descends from the Robert Robin Etheridge who in the Book Ten Generations is listed as infirmed and feeble minded with no decending relatives... He married Sarah Sally Joyner/Joiner lived in Conecuh County Ala. near Bellville died about 1855 He leaves many children one being my ggfather Erivin/Erwin.Oscar Etheridge depending on the various census reports.... His widow Sarah Sally Joyner Etheridge then married Robert Lundsforth Trawick the widow next door... they stayed together for a year or so and seperated...no divorce on record she is then placed in to Bryce Hospital where she died further information is needed on all the siblings and descentents.. I have followed the line of Erwin Etheridge and his wife Sally Sarah Reeves and their children Erwin Etheridge died and is buried in Salem Ala.. Sally Reeves Etheridge never remarried and she is dead in Pensacola and buried in an unmarked plot in Whitmire Cemetery I have information on most of their children.. especially their son James Earl Etheridge...my grandfather any help would be most greatly welcomed jdecon@aol.com Janice D.
