Mathew and Sarah had 8 kids. Malinda, Pollie, Tilman, Mathew, Sarah, Mary, Elizabeth and George. Tilman's wife was Mary Mildred "Polly" Mc Daniel. Tilman and Mary had abt. 10 kids and Tilman married a second time to Sarah Snider or Linder and they had children , maybe 8. One of Tillman's and Mary's sons was Tillman who married Elizabeth Etheridge (yes that was her maiden and married name) My great grandfather was another son of Tilman and Mary and he was Richard Emanual Etheridge.Most of these Etheridge's lived around Wilson Co. Tn and some moved to Jefferson Co. Il. where Richard came and where I live. I will be happy to trade info on these families but I am especially interested in finding out who the parents and sibs are of Mathew b. abt 1785 and Sarah his wife. (She was only 15 when she had mum! Quite shocking no doubt back then. I can't locate her side of the family at all, as she was born in 1917 and of course there's no census to check back on :o( Her name was Louisa V M Thompson (later George) - any clues again? I'm new to this research lark, but as my parents are now 83 & 80 we wanted to do as much as possible before the inevitable happens and memories are lost. It hasn't helped that we only recently found out that the man me & my sister called grand dad married my nan AFTER she'd given birth to my mum, fathered by someone completely different. IE: Ronald G Tidman who died during a bombing attack on the ship where he was an able seaman in 1942. So the Tidmans are a completely new branch of the James family lol Any clues as to where I go next to find out why Henry Tidman (at age 13) was in a workhouse in Lingwood, Norfolk according to the 1891 census? Henry Tidman (her husband) was listed as an "inmate" at Lingwood Workhouse on the 1891 census, then disappeared for the 1901, until I worked out his surname had been mis-spelt as Sidman, by which time he was a lodger with the Etheridges in Ranworth, but no mention of a Charlotte living with them. She was 24 in the 1911 census and was then married to Henry with 4 children, one of whom is my biological grandfather. Realize I located my natural dad in 1990 and just started looking for natural family history back in July. I just don't want to make a mistake. William A Etheredge married Lucy L Williford 14 Oct 1849, Henry Co., TN. I can't find them in the 1850 census. Both claim born in TN in 1860 census. William A Etheridge 12 Aug 1826 - 26 Jun 1862, buried in Green Plains Cemetery, Hazel, Calloway, KY. He is listed there in findagrave along with a daughter Sarah C. Clinton has siblings. One was Willis Elijah born 18 Jul 1854, Calloway Co., KY. Lucy remarried to George Hudspeth and had more children. They are listed in the 1870 Murray, Calloway, KY, census on page 66B.
