G'day folks, Following up the current discussion as to whether John Estes of Hyde Co, NC or John Estes of Louisa Co, VA was the son of Abraham Estes Sr, the following deed sheds (from Donna Hull) some pretty revealing light: >From "CAVALIERS & PIONEERS", Nell m. Nugent, Vol. V. pp.36-7: David Thomson, 1,113 ac Hanover Co on both sides East, Middle & Main Fks of N. Fk of No.East Cr, beg at Capt. Clark's now John Powers's & Richard Estes's corner, by the side of a stony Knole, by a glade, adj John Estes, Rbt Estes & Richd Estes, 30 Aug 1743 pp.565-6, 800 ac pt formerly gtd sd David Thomson by 2 separate Pat's dated 25 Aug 1731. 313 ac NL. John Estes of Hanover Co (latter Louisa), VA was a close neighbour of Robert and Richard Estes. I've not heard anyone question whether Richard or Robert were Abraham Sr's sons, so the fact that this John is living next door is very suggestive that he's their brother. Which begs the question, who is John Estes of Hyde Co, NC? David. -- I bless the day I met you and I thank God that he let you lay beside me for a moment that lives on and the good news is I'm better for the time we spent together and the bad news is you're gone. - "You're Gone", Diamond Rio DC2.D A+++!
