    1. [ESTES-L] Re: ESTES-D Digest V00 #89
    2. Try researching James as being son of Nathaniel Estes, born 1770 in Granville Co., NC and died in Wake Co., NC. Mother being Nancy ??, If this is so, he would be grandson to John Estes & Sarah "Sally" Bennett. I am a descendent of John Estes and Sarah "Sally" Bennett through Nathaniel's other son, John, born 1797 died bet. 1825 - 1830. My records do not show John Estes & Sarah Bennett having a son named James, but John's son Nathaniel does show a son named James B. Estes, born 1793. (There can be a one or two year variation in dates due to some way records were kept, I forget the legal defination now.) My records show John Estes and Sarah "Sally" Bennett as having 7 children. Nathaniel born 1770, died 1845. William 1775, 1827. Sarah married Thomas J. Pruett 1780, ?. Daniel 1784, 1818. Thomas 1785, died bet. 1850-1860. Hezekiah 1786, ??. John B. 1791, after 1840. I show for Nathaniel's ancestry Nathaniel9 Estes (John8, Ephraim7, Sylvester6, Abraham5, Sylvester4, Robert3, Sylvester2, Nicholas1) The only thing I show for this James B. Estes is born 1793. For Nathaniel I show the following. He was born 1770 in Granville Co., NC and died 1845 in Wake Co., NC. He married Nancy ?. Census 1: 1810, Granville Co., NC Census 2: 1830, Wake Co., NC Census 3: 1840, Wake Co., NC Notes for Nancy: Census 1850. Wake Co., NC. In 1850, Nancy was living in Wake Co., NC, as head of household. I have no other information on James B. Estes. As a matter of interest: My closer ancestor Samuel, son of John (brother of your possible James) married Amanda Mangum 10/18/1845 in Granville Co., NC. They then moved to Calhoun Co., AL & then to Cherokee Co., AL. If this helps you in any way, I'm glad & will be glad to help you in any way I can with past ancestors. It is a lot of fun doing genealogy, just very addictive. Good Luck, Sylvia Jennings
