    1. [ESTES-L] 1810 Census Granger County, TN

    3. Hi all: As most of you already know, the 1810 census for Tennessee was destroyed, but a partial list survived. I found this in the McClug Library in Knoxville, TN in "TENNESSEE ANCESTORS" Vol. 6 (2) August 1990. The only Estes shown was Revolution Vet. John Estes. John Estis, Males: one under 10, two 10-16, one over 45; Females: three under 10, one 10-16, one over 45; Slaves: one. I believe the males could have been George W., John Jr., and William. I do not know who the females could have been as the only daughter offered by other researchers to date is Sarah, who married John Carson in 1801. John Estes Sr. would have been 59 years old at this census. Assuming all these children were his and Mary's, he was fathering children in his fifties and she in her forties. Anyone have an opinion? Does anyone have copies of Mary Estes in later census to learn her age? Leo ________________________________________ Funny, I don't remember being absent minded.
