Hi Everybody- I have had several requests for information on the various Elisha Estes from my files, so I am offering the complete file to those who are interested In the search for my elusive ancestor I compiled a listing of all the Elisha Estes I could find and included all information that was available at the time. Although the original intent of this file was to locate and isolate my Elisha ancestor, I would like to share it in hopes that someday, it can be expanded and/or corrected and used by everyone. I terminated my overall Elisha research in November 1999. This file represents about three years work of gathering and compiling of other people's records and carefully merging confirmed duplicates. This material does not contain any earth shaking evidence but may show a date or other clue that could lead to new discoveries when linked to someone else's records. After merging all positive duplications there were still 34 persons and there is probably more! There still may be duplications left in this file as some have very little information, not enough to permit merging at this time. I found there were so many Elishas, it was necessary to assign numbers to each for ease of identification. These numbers are arbitrary and not related to dates or other factors. They are shown in numerical order just the way they came up in my computer. (Number #3 was merged after the ID numbers were assigned but the numbers still range 1 through 34 - #3 is marked - Merged ) - My ancestor, the Elisha who died in Roane Co., TN in 1818, just happened to come up as #7. It has been determined he is not a duplicate of the others in the list. It is possible this number system could be adopted to identify the various Elishas in the future to prevent mis-communications. Since this material was originated to isolate my Elisha ancestor, I am sure more data is available on some of the others. This data was collected from many donors who often did not include their sources and all material is shown as received. This material may contain errors so it should be used only as a guide and not recorded or propagated as a fact. Extreme care has been taken to preserve the actual spelling of the given and surnames as recorded. I have no problem with people who refer to this material as Roy Eastes' Elisha File as long as it is in the context that it was compiled from of other people's records and the author does not verify the contents. Files cannot be attached to a Mail List letter, but I will send it to anyone who requests it. This file spans 88 pages and has been successfully attached to E Mail letters three times. However, there may be a problem with some internet providers since it is bulky. Drop me a line if you would like a copy. Best Regards to All Roy Eastes <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< END >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> When we record our heritage we take great pride in looking at our list of ancestors and admire their origins, migrations and accomplishments. But, what good is it - unless it’s true? We need stories and rumors, they are great and often lead to the truth! BUT - Help eliminate errors. Don't take anything as Fact! Check references for validity! If we don’t our children’s children will be led down false trails and they will never be able to find their true heritage.
