The thing is that the first generation of Estes born in VA were born around 1700, so by the time of the late 1700's, there would not be all that many Estes running around. I don't claim to have 'em all in my files, but I'd say I've got most of them (I hope!! *grin*) .. so when a "new" one turns up, there just ain't many places he'll fit in, especially if he's got a common name. I know that might sound paradoxial, but if it's a common name like Elisha (well with the Estes it's common), then many other lines will have them and most of those individuals can be eliminated .. in this case the only possible _known_ Elisha for the father of nancy (who married Wlm Cockerham) and the Elisha of Lunenburg/Charlotte Co Va is the son of John (1701-1771). There are other Elisha's who're around that the time and who have known connections, but they can be all eliminated. Please note the emphasis on "known" and "connected" above .. hopefully I've covered myself there. :) > 2. Alas I have no information at all on Estes iN Charlotte Co, VA and very little on Lunenburg Co, Estes .. other than those already linked.
