    2. Hi Marie I will give you what I have found in my files on John Wesley Estes. There may well be more than one in the Arkansas/Missouri area of those years. A John W. Estes was one of three witnesses to a will of Allen PRIER, will was written on 30 Aug 1871, and those mentioned were all from Galena, Stone Co., Mo. This info came from: http://www.rootsweb.com/~mostone/wills/wills/_pgten.htm In a 1900 Stone County Missouri census index I found a John W. Estes listed to be on page 145 of that census: http://www.rootsweb.com/~mostone/census/1900ef.html I copied a list posted by jodie4@Juno.com - on 9/16/98, listing Estes's in Missouri with the years they were there. She has a John Wesley Estes mentioned two times, one with a b. 1821 after his name and the other with b. 1824 after the others name. She said she had alot of Estes names, it might be worth while to email her for information on John Wesley Estes. In a book on the History of Missouri by Loues Houck, I don't remember who sent it to me - something I had requested I think. It states the following: Patrick Estes came to Missouri with a Murphy in 1802 from Tennessee, and settle on the St. Francois river. Prior to settling there Murphy had to get permission from the Spanish rules and ordinances. The settlement was called the "Murphy Settlement" and was located where the city of Farmington is now. I hope this helps. Pat
