The Charlotte (NC) Observer October 23, 2000 Estes, William `Bill' Terry GASTONIA -- Mr. William `Bill' Terry Estes, 68, of Gastonia, NC, died on October 21, 2000 at Gaston Memorial Hospital. A native of Gaston County, NC, he was the son of the late William Bub Estes and the late Bertie Haney Estes Cash. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Brooks. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Howard Brook Estes, of the home. Brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Barbara Estes of Gastonia. Stepsons: Marvin C. Brooks Jr. and wife Renee of Gastonia; Gary Brooks and wife Bonnie Sue of Dallas, NC; Stepdaughters: Ruth Kelly and husband Sam of Gastonia; Mary Cody and husband Bobby of Thomasville, NC; Linda Barker and husband Ray of Gastonia; Betty Ballew and husband Keith of Gastonia. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 1 niece and 2 nephews. Graveside services for Mr. Estes will be held at Gaston memorial park at 11 am on Monday, October 23, 2000 with the Rev. Alvin Wooters officiating. The family received friends at Carothers Funeral Home, Gastonia, on Sunday, October 22, 2000 from 7 until 9 p.m. Memorials may be made to the organization of the donor's choice. Pallbearers: Gary Brooks, Jr; Johnny Broyles; Billy Wood, Jr.; Ray Barker; Terry Russell Estes; Darrell Williamson. Honorary Pallbearers: Kendall Wood and Damien Wood.
