Hope someone can answer the question which Gallant Estes was this?
Does anyone have any information on Frances Hunter Estes? She was born to William Hunter and Catherine Vivian (not sure of the name) after 1857 when her older sister was born. I am not sure when she died but she is buried in Columbia, Louisiana. She married Ed Estess and had three sons, I believe.

No other Paralee's in my data base. No, this isn't the same one. The Paralee that <UchuuJin@aol.com> asked about was born c.1820 and married Ed Elkins c.1838, before the one above was born. The c.1820 Paralee isn't an aunt of the other one (all of John M. kids are known, AFAIK). I suspect she may be a daughter of Edward Estes, half brother of the John M. Estes that you mentioned. But I have no evidence for this, just a hunch. cheers, David. -- The universe is not only queerer that we imagine, it is queerer than we *can* imagine - J. B. S. Haldane DC2.D A+++! To the person asking about Paralee ESTES. I forgot to tell you to go to the following page and view Cindy Louth's submission on the ELKINS family. There are a couple of Paralees in there. Use the "find" function in your browser. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~rhio/ElkinsPg.htm Again, good luck. Rhio
I have a Paralee ESTES b. Jun 30, 1842 and d. Feb 24, 1843. She was the daughter of Charlotte Elkins and John Moses ESTES of Cannon Co., TN and the sister of my GG Grandfather Benjamin Mason ESTES of Woodbury, Cannon Co., TN. No other Paralee's in my data base. This information was given to me by J. W. ESTES in OK. You can see her siblings at the following web site, third generation. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~rhio/EstesPg.htm Good luck, Rhio

Hello my Estes cousins, I seem to have hit a brick wall in my search for family. A missing link. I have what I feel is a fairly accurate list of my ansestors until I get to my great grand father John and his wife Martha. I cannot find who his father was. They lived and died in Casey Co. KY and are buried in the Wall family cemetery there. John was born 5/22/1862 & died 7/8/1936. Martha was born 8/1/1862 & died 9/12/1936. They were married 3/19/18_ _. Six children out of 10 lived to adulthood. Fred, Sallie (Adams), Lila (Todd), Monroe, *Edward, James. If anyone has any information on John and/or Martha, I would be EXCITED to receive this information. Many thanks to all who can help. Marcia (Estes) Byrket cmb@knightstown.net

This is > especially true in the southern clan of Estes. I don't know how he did > on the northern group. Happy hunting, Glenda Estes Yes, Charles did make a number of mistakes with the Southern Estes. But several things mitigate those mistakes .. his primary aim was the northern line, the material he has on Abe's bunch was really just an appendix and so less attention was paid to accuracy. ALso a lot of the southern line stuff was information he'd gotten from Estes living in the south rather than research of his own .. and that means it was only as good as what he was sent. The nothern line material was quite well researched and while there are a few mistakes, they are only minor ones. The book is, after all, really about the descendents of Matthew and Richard, that is, the northern line. Still .. the moral of the story is that you should never trust collated material 100% but confirm it yourself where possible. Hence the caveat at the start of my Estes files! cheers, David.
You might contact "Angelina Bittues" <abit2s@mint.net>. She has been selling one copy after another of a spiral-bound photocopy of this book on Ebay for the past month. It's described as 212 photocopied pages with two original pages copied onto one. She must have a stock of them. David, May I add my "two cents" to the Charles Estes book. I have found many errors in this book so folks really need to try to document anything they find in his book before taking it as a sure lead. This is especially true in the southern clan of Estes. I don't know how he did on the northern group. Happy hunting, Glenda Estes
I, too, am interested in the above titled book "Estes Genealogies" and would like to know where to find it. Ester Eads

Any degree of speculation there? G'day Arik, In the case of Matthew and Robert, their arrival in the american colonies has been well documented. See Charles Estes book "Estes Genealogies" for details on their arrival. I'm at work so I can't look it up myself. cheers, David.

Grandmasallie48@aol.com wrote: > > Is there a record of Abrahams children and grandchildren? I'm trying to > find the parents of my William from Virginia....Sallie There's no complete list of his children in any one document. Lists have been compiled. Arguably the standard would be Niel Gunson's article on early american Estes. I can dig up a copy for you and email it if you like .. but wont post it here (and no-one else do it either) - it's copyright. The will of Barbara Estes (1720, proven 1769) names most but not all teh children. Even then, at least one of Abraham's supposed sons, Samuel, is now being questioned as to whether he ever existed. As for grandchildren .. again, no documented list (ie: a will, deed etc). There are numerous compilations floating around. Some have been printed in Estes Trails, other's are on the www. All lists of Abe's grandkids share one thing in common .. a degree of speculation. cheers, David. -- The universe is not only queerer that we imagine, it is queerer than we *can* imagine - J. B. S.
