Hello Jenny. I think you meant his birth year was 1876, not 1846. Great Ilford was the old name for what's now known as Ilford. There was also a Little Ilford which became part of East Ham and then Newham. The London boroughs have been restructured several times. I tried looking for the first name Valentine in the deaths index but there's nothing obvious. I think you could try the burial records of St Mary's church. Someone else will know more about Ilford churches.
