    3. Hi, I have just rejoined the Essex list after a break, but the bug has got me again so I thought I would try to trace my elusive 4th GGrandparents William KINGSBURY born c 1790? And his wife Mary ???. I know very little of this couple other than they start to baptise children in Colchester as follows: Mary Ann 1815 Holy Trinity Elizabeth 1817-1817 St Peters Susan 1819 St Peters Joseph 1821-1825 St Peters Edward 1824 St Peters The baptisms for the first 2 children state Williams occupation as a Private in the 63rd Regiment of foot, for the others his occupation is given as Butcher. Not knowing where William or Mary was born or married is obviously making tracing there parentage very difficult? I have tried to find William's service record in the army with no success. I have also tried to trace them on census returns, however lack of info is making this difficult. If anyone has an interest in this family or can offer some help or guidance I would be extremely grateful. Kind regards Robert Salisbury

    3. Hi Robert & Listers, It is not easy to trace Regiments of Foot in the early days, especially when they change names or get amalgamated but the 63rd Foot seems to have been founded in 1758, and by 1881 it seems to have been renamed the Manchester Regiment. Good Luck with your search ! Best Wishes !
