Hi all Just an update on my search for a memorial inscription at East London Cemetery. I contacted the cemetery and they had a record that there was originally a headstone but no other details. They informed me that they do not have any records of memorial inscriptions or know of anyone who has ever recorded memorial inscriptions at the cemetery. It is astonishing that such a large and important cemetery such as this in East London has never had memorial inscriptions recorded there by anyone through the years. Michelle

I presume you haven't visited the cemetery. It's vast! You'd need an army of willing volunteers. My grand-parents had their ashes scattered there. No stones, just a small plaque on the kerb of one of the large rose beds. -- Regards, Mike Fry Johannesburg
