In 1841 he was living in Great Leighs (transcribed as Gallay). His death in 1893 suggests he was born in 1815. Can anyone offer any > suggestions? Have you found any candidates for his father's marriage? Often early census records reflect where the person lived as a child. This is not necessarily where the child was baptised or even born. The parents marriage record may provide a further hint. I notice that you haven't found the 1841 record. Not that this will tell you much more than that he was born in Essex or not. But the location might be informative. -- Regards, Mike Fry Johannesburg ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Any problems, please contact the List Admin: Essex-UK-admin@rootsweb.com ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to ESSEX-UK-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
