Thomas the Tank Engine was written about by the Rev Wilbert Vere Awdry, born 15/6/1911 in Romsey, Hants. His father was was Rev Vere Awdry, born 14/10/1854 in Notton House, Lacock, Wiltshire. Vere's father was John Wither Awdry, born 1795 in Swindon, Wiltshire.
