    3. Hi all, I know a few of you have already done some looking up for me, which I really appreciate, but I still have not been able to find the right Mary Elizabeth Duffy. The one I thought was the right one born West Ham, Essex 1898 was not the one after all. Mary's marriage certificate in 1920 states her as being 25 years old which means she would have to have been born in 1895, her father named as James Duffy (then deceased in 1920). I'm trying Essex first because this is where she married and had the first child, so hopefully Essex is where they came from. Any extra help would really be appreciated. Thank you, Olive Bandy

    3. Hi Olive You are making some very big assumptions here. Even if she was 25 on her wedding day (and as has already been mentioned, one cannot always rely on this being accurate), she could have been exactly 25 (i.e. married on her birthday) or on the brink of being 26 (birthday the next day). So you need to consider candidates born in 1894 as well. Nor is it sensible to restrict your search to Essex - she could have been born anywhere and moved to Essex as a baby, just before her marriage or any time in between.
