    1. Re: [Ess] Disappeared rellie
    2. Hi Bob, Thanks for such a quick response. "Are you sure it was her wedding and that she was not a bridesmaid? OR for some reason did the wedding not take place." Diane is in the centre of the photo in best bib n tucker with a large corsage standing beside her hubby. The photo was taken in front of a church door. Parents are standing either side of the couple. The usual family group photo taken after the ceremony has taken place. "You mention your father and her brother - was her father still living then?" Answered in the above. "You mention her having two sons - have you any BDM on them?" Absolutley nothing. Only references of names etc. on photos. "I assume from what you are saying he was in mufti, not uniform?" As I said, my father is in RAF uniform, that's how I can roughly date the photo. "when did your father and uncle (I am assuming this) join up? have you contact with the uncle? or have you tried to locate him? could the dates be just prior to or very early in the war?" My father volunteered in Nov '39 and after basic training at Catterick was sent via. Palestine, S.Africa to Habbaniya, there for 2 years before going on to India. After an accident he returned to UK by hospital ship early '44. That is how I can feel confident when the photos were taken. Also he has his LAC prop. on his Greatcoat which he didn't get until he was at Habbaniya. As for my uncle, I have no idea of his service record. From the photos, definately not navy, probably not RAF so I guess must be army. Unfortunately he is not wearing a hat and there are no visible insignia. I only ever met him the once in the late 50s early 60s. I do not even know if he is still alive. Sorry I cannot be more helpful as this is about the sum total of my info. Unfortunately I have just learnt from Steve that 16 pages of " S " are missing on Ancestry. Wonderful!! We shall be looking into Steves suggestion for a more complete copy of BMDs. Any further suggestions greatfully received. Will report back after I have checked out Findmypast. Regards, Mick.
