I have Edward's cert which shows his mother Ellen, but she was born before 1837 (aprox 1831) and obviously her mother Sophia b aprox 1807 (or possible other woman as the 1841 census doesn't establish relationships) is born prior to registration as well. Daniel and Sophia Porters cert for marriage is coming, but I only usually get a fathers name on those so I am hoping to find a parish record if anyone has it which sometimes is more forthcoming with parents names. This board has been helpful with suggestions such as yours and I am hoping a fresh set of eyes might cast more light on it.
